Remember when I covered this guitar in black stain? 😁

Here’s why!

After sanding most of the black back off, the grain starts to reveal itself. This creates more contrast in the wood, which helps give the finished colour that deeper, almost 3D look.

And this is still just part of the process… 👀

Why am I staining this guitar black… if I’m going to sand it off anyway? 🤔
First, black stain. Then… I’ll sand most of it back off😄
Sounds a bit pointless, right?
Actually, this is how I bring out the natural grain of the wood. The black stain settles into the grain, and once I sand the surface back, the pattern becomes much more visible.
And that’s only the first step. The next colour will add even more depth and give the grain a much more 3D look.

So... when does a guitar actually become a baritone?
There isn't really a hard line....27" is usually where things start to get pretty clearly into baritone territory, but scale length, tuning and the whole setup obviously play a part.
This one sits at 26.5" and has 7 strings, so I'd say it's definitely knocking on the baritone door 😄

And this build turned into a bit of an adventure.

As soon as it was ready, I jumped in the car and went to meet its new owner ... because there was a gig waiting for it that same evening ->

I'll admit, handing over a brand new guitar and knowing it's going straight onto a stage that night is not exactly stress free 😂
..so there was no time for a proper photoshoot either.
Luckily, the owner happens to be into photography as well, so he kindly sent me a few shots of the guitar ... which I'm happily stealing borrowing and sharing with you guys 😄

Lately, I’ve been feeling more and more drawn to baritone guitars 😁
There’s something about their feel, their sound and the possibilities they open up that really resonates with me.
And I think it’s time to give them a bigger place in the GVguitars world 💪
This is a direction I’m excited to explore further. More baritone content coming soon🤘

Yeah, we’re really proud of it. Hungary finally has an astronaut, which is already an incredible achievement on its own. But as it turns out, he’s also a musician and a guitarist. I don’t think that needs any explanation. 😄
We’re huge space nerds ourselves… and, well, we build guitars. The rest pretty much wrote itself. 🚀😄

Aaaaaand landed to Tibor Kapu!!!

A guitar from us, built for Hungary’s astronaut, Tibor Kapu.

It is a great honor for us that he accepted this instrument from us. Besides commemorating his journey to the ISS through several design details, this guitar also holds another special significance: it is the 100th instrument we have built.

We wish him good health and many long hours of enjoyment with the guitar.
