THE 30 BOOKS A YEAR CHALLENGE: Sometime at the beginning of the year 2017, one our good friends and business associates, Kingsely Gamedze, announced that he was embarking on a challenge to read 100 books before the year ended. When you think about it, that is committing to reading to completion; at least one book, every 3 and half days! That may seem like a very difficult thing for most people, but it is actually possible. I recall days in high school when I would read a novel to completion in just one day. No kidding! Anyways, I have been thinking about Kingsley’s 100 Book – Year Challenge and I thought that maybe I will challenge you to commit to something as well. I thought maybe it would be worth the effort for most of us, myself included; to commit to reading at least one book every week. Seeing that this is week 19 of the year, we are therefore left with 33 weeks in the year. However, I will be a bit lenient and suggest that we commit to completing at least 30 books by the end of this year. I know that some may not be able to read all 30 books, while some may actually go beyond that. The point of this exercise is not only to get you to develop mentally by reason of gaining knowledge, but it is also to get you to accomplish that which you once believed yourself to be incapable of achieving. Another goal of this challenge is to cultivate the habit of intentional personal development. If we commit to reading, we are committing to a deliberate effort to better our intellect. If we get better as individuals, we get better as a nation. It is up to each person to decide what type of books they will read and where they will source those books. These need not be new books. Used books are perfectly fine, especially since they are cheaper. Of course, we at Proverbia Books can also source books for you and we will be running specials for anyone who will be a part of this challenge. The first step in this challenge is to commit to a number of books you will read before the year ends and the frequency to which you will read. For Example, I commit to reading 30 books and I will read at least one book every week. Your commitment needs to be public so that your friends can hold you to your promise. So I will ask that you post the number of books you intend to read and also the frequency with which you want to read on your wall and on this post. After reading and completing each book, it would be great if you can take a picture of yourself with that book and post it on this post and your wall as well. You may use the hashtag . The challenge begins NOW! All the best!
