เล็บขบ (Ingrown toenail / Onychocryptosis / unguis incarnatus)

คือภาวะที่ขอบเล็บเจริญเติบโตลึกลงไปในผิวหนังด้านข้างของนิ้ว ตำแหน่งที่พบบ่อยที่สุดคือ ด้านนอกของนิ้วหัวแม่เท้า (ร้อยละ 70)
สาเหตุ เช่น
ตัดเล็บผิดวิธี โดยตัดสั้นโค้งเข้าไปในเนื้อขอบเล็บ เมื่อเล็บงอกขึ้นมาใหม่จึงงอกลงไปในเนื้อข้าง ๆ ขอบเล็บ
ใส่รองเท้าถุงเท้ารัดแน่นเกินไป รองเท้าส้นสูง หรือรองเท้าปลายแหลม
อาจพบได้ในผู้ที่มีลักษณะเล็บผิดปกติ ซึ่งอาจเกิดจากนิ้วเท้าเกิดอุบัติเหตุ การบาดเจ็บซ้ำ ๆ ในนักวิ่ง นักฟุตบอล การติดเชื้อราที่เล็บ สุขอนามัยเท้าที่ไม่ดี หรือการที่มีเนื้อด้านข้างของเล็บมากเกินไป
โรคที่ทำให้เกิดเท้าบวม เช่น ภาวะน้ำหนักเกิน โรคหัวใจ โรคไต เบาหวาน
