Note: สำหรับการชงมัตจะ ความพยายามหนึ่งของเรา คือ ทำถ้วยปากจงอยให้มีขนาดกระทักรัด ที่จะใช้งานได้ดี ตีชาให้เข้ากับน้ำได้ง่าย ถ้วยทั่วๆไปที่ทำขนาดใหญ่ๆ ทำให้ระดับของเหลวในถ้วยตื้นและแผ่กว้าง ปริมาตรของเหลวที่ตื้นจะทำให้ตีชายาก (การตีชาได้ง่ายจะมีความสูงของของเหลวในถ้วยระดับหนึ่งที่พอดีๆ ไม่ตื้นไป และไม่ลึกเกินไป) กับการที่ถ้วยใหญ่ๆ อาจทำให้เกิดอาการที่ของเหลวที่ตีวิ่งหนีแปรง ทำให้ผสมผงชาให้เข้ากับน้ำได้ไม่ดี กับใช้แรงในการไล่ตีชามาก บางครั้งก็กระฉอกกระเด็นเละเทอะ ดูไม่งาม จึงเปนที่มาของถ้วยกระทัดรัดของอุ่น พอทเทอรี่
