BRAGi Eyewear Drop Test Case Study: AMI 04 Kids Model

Test Overview & Methodology
On a sunny day (ambient temperature 12.3℃, wind speed ≤0.8m/s) in January 2026, BRAGi conducted a rigorous drop test at its Nanjing headquarters to validate the AMI 04 kids’ model (Color 140). The test, filmed as a video testimonial, took place on the 124.28-meter rooftop—82.85 times higher than the 1.5m requirement of China’s 《Children’s Eyeglass Frames》 standard (GB/T 38005-2019). The AMI 04, crafted from BRAGi’s custom medical-grade PA12 nylon (elastic modulus 2.8GPa, tensile strength 65MPa), was dropped vertically onto concrete ground (hardness 320HV). Post-drop, frame dimensions were 复测 via a precision caliper (accuracy ±0.01mm), and lens conditions were inspected with a 50x metallographic microscope.

Test Results & Analysis
Video footage captured the 4.98-second free fall (terminal velocity 48.9m/s) and impact.

Key results: Frame integrity: No deformation detected—temple length (135.00mm, original 135.00mm), bridge width (18.50mm, original 18.50mm), and hinge torque (0.8N·m, standard 0.6-1.0N·m) remained within tolerance. PA12’s high resilience absorbed the 8.2kN instantaneous impact force (equivalent to 836kg load) without plastic deformation.

Lens condition: The polycarbonate lens (impact resistance ≥6.0J, thickness 1.56mm) showed 2-3 surface scratches (max depth 0.02mm), no chipping or cracking, complying with ANSI Z80.1 children’s lens safety standards.

For optometrists and parents, it demonstrates the model’s ability to withstand extreme falls while preserving optical alignment and safety.
