**Magnepatch Update**
Hey guys,
It’s been a while since I posted an update. I’ve been spending quite a bit of time behind the scenes sorting out some issues with suppliers and shipping.
I’m happy to say that we’ve made some good improvements in both areas.
# # # 🧵 Better Thread Matching
Ever since I started offering colors beyond the classic black and white, I’ve discovered that one of the surprisingly difficult parts of making Magnepatch is finding thread that actually matches the loop panel.
The thread we use isn’t your typical sewing thread. It’s smoother, stronger, and still relatively thin, which makes it well suited for Magnepatch.
The problem is that the manufacturer has reduced the number of colors they produce over the years. That made it increasingly difficult to find the exact colors I needed—and even harder to introduce new colors.
I’ve now found a new thread manufacturer with a much larger range of colors that are still actively being produced.
They were also kind enough to send me their actual color catalog, which means I can now match the thread to the loop material much more accurately instead of trying to guess from online photos.
There’s another nice improvement too: the new thread has a more **matte finish**, so it reflects less light and should blend into the loop panel better.
This **does not change the performance or strength of Magnepatch**. It’s purely a cosmetic improvement, but it’s one of those small details that makes the finished product look much cleaner.
# # # 📦 Shipping Improvements
Shipping Magnepatch internationally has always been a bit of a headache.
Because Magnepatch contains permanent magnets, not every courier will accept it, and some shipping routes require special handling.
I’ve been using a shipping agency that can generally offer better rates than dealing directly with major couriers such as UPS or DHL. However, the downside has been relatively high shipping costs, slower delivery, and—most frustratingly—inconsistent acceptance of magnetic products.
I’ve now found a new shipping company that can ship Magnepatch to **Malaysia 🇲🇾, Singapore 🇸🇬 and Hong Kong 🇭🇰** at a much more reasonable rate and with significantly faster delivery.
Even better, they’ve given me a **fixed shipping rate**, so I no longer need to check the shipping cost with them every time someone places an order.
That means I can give you the shipping cost immediately, and hopefully make the whole ordering process **faster, simpler and cheaper**.
There are still a few things I’m working on behind the scenes, but these two changes are a pretty significant step forward.
Thanks to everyone who has supported Magnepatch, placed an order, shared photos, or simply followed along.
More updates—and hopefully some new colors—coming soon.
**Your Gear. Your Rules.**
Cheerio,
Ded
