A New Journey, One Passport at a Time
Standing together in their blue caps, papers and passports in hand, 12 ETDA Hospitality students smiled for a photo that marked the start of something big.
For years they dreamed, trained, and waited. Today, that dream has a destination: Portugal.
These 12 women from Timor-Leste are heading to work in Portugal’s aged care and agriculture sectors — two fields where care, strength, and hard work matter most.
Some will care for elders with the same warmth they’ve shown their own families back home. Others will work the land, bringing Timorese resilience to Portugal’s farms. Different jobs, but the same purpose: building a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.
It won’t be easy. A new country. A new language. Being far from home. But look at this photo — the determination is already there. The documents in their hands aren’t just papers. They’re tickets to opportunity, dignity, and hope.

Parabéns e boa sorte! Congratulations. You carry the spirit of Timor with you. May your work be respected, your hands be valued, and your journey be filled with pride.
Portugal is gaining skilled, compassionate workers. And Timor-Leste is sending daughters who will make the whole nation proud.

Uma Nova Viagem, Um Passaporte de Cada Vez
Juntas, com os seus bonés azuis, documentos e passaportes na mão, 12 alunas do curso de Hotelaria da ETDA sorriram para uma foto que marcou o início de algo grandioso.
Durante anos, sonharam, prepararam-se e esperaram. Hoje, este sonho tem um destino: Portugal.
Estas 12 mulheres de Timor-Leste vão trabalhar para os setores dos cuidados a idosos e da agricultura em Portugal — duas áreas onde o cuidado, a força e o trabalho árduo são fundamentais.
Algumas cuidarão dos idosos com o mesmo carinho que demonstraram às suas famílias no seu país. Outras trabalharão a terra, levando a resiliência timorense às explorações agrícolas portuguesas. Trabalhos diferentes, mas o mesmo propósito: construir um futuro melhor para si, para as suas famílias e para as suas comunidades.
Não será fácil. Um novo país. Um novo idioma. Estar longe de casa. Mas olhe para esta foto — a determinação já está presente. Os documentos que tem nas suas mãos não são apenas papéis. São bilhetes para a oportunidade, a dignidade e a esperança.
