The price difference between a $20 bag and an $80 bag comes down to one thing, COMPLEXITY. Budget soil is usually just one or two ingredients. A proper mix has multiple components, each doing a specific job: structure, drainage, freshness, nutrition. That costs more to make, and for good reason.

Potted plants especially can’t afford a basic mix. They’re living in a closed system with no access to the natural soil ecosystem around them so everything they need has to come from what’s in that pot. A single-ingredient bag won’t cut it.

Knowing what’s in your soil means you stop guessing and start seeing results.

Every imported bag of potting mix on the shelf in Trinidad was formulated for a temperate climate, where the humidity is lower, the heat is gentler, and the rainy season doesn’t exist.

In our climate, that mix holds moisture for days longer than it should. The roots sit in it. They can’t breathe. And the plant above soil looks tired while the damage happens underground where you can’t see it.
