Nissan Tiida C11 | Overheating – Clogged Radiator

This Nissan Tiida was overheating during a road test, with coolant temperature reaching approximately 109°C even though the radiator fan was operating at high speed.

Using the scan tool, we confirmed that the ECU was correctly controlling both low- and high-speed fan operation. The problem wasn't the fan control system.

Further testing revealed an internally clogged radiator restricting coolant flow, along with coolant leaks.

The radiator core was replaced, two leaking hose plugs were replaced, and the system was refilled with coolant. The radiator repairs were carried out by Reliable Radiators Services & Auto Repairs Ltd.

A follow-up road test confirmed normal coolant temperature and cooling system operation.

This Nissan Wingroad Y11 (QG18DE, cable throttle) was presented with complaints of erratic transmission shifting.

During the initial vehicle health scan, the Transmission Control Module (TCM) could not be detected, preventing communication with the transmission system.

Further electrical diagnostics revealed several wiring faults affecting TCM operation.

The following issues were identified:
The shift solenoid circuit had been incorrectly connected to DLC Pin 12, which is the TCM communication line.
DLC Pin 13 exhibited intermittent continuity, causing unreliable communication with the TCM.

P0500 – Vehicle Speed Sensor Diagnosis
Testing determined that the digital vehicle speed signal from the instrument cluster was not reaching the TCM. All instrument cluster connector terminals were tested; however, the required speed signal was not present.

This 2002 Nissan Wingroad Y11 (QG18DE, cable throttle) was presented with complaints of:
Loss of power under acceleration
Erratic transmission shifting

Positive fuel trims of approximately +35%, indicates the ECM was adding a significant amount of fuel to compensate for a lean condition.

Fuel pressure remained at approximately 25 PSI, well below specification, confirming a fuel delivery problem.

This explains:
Loss of power under acceleration
High positive fuel trims
Poor overall engine performance

Nissan Tiida HR15 | P0335 Crank-No-Start – Mixed-Up Crank Sensor Wiring

This Nissan Tiida with the HR15 engine was presented with an intermittent crank-no-start condition.

A diagnostic scan revealed:
P0335 – Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit
The engine would crank normally but would not start.

Diagnostic Process
An oscilloscope was connected to monitor the crankshaft position sensor signal at the ECM.

Testing revealed that no crankshaft signal was reaching the ECM, preventing the engine from starting.

Further inspection of the wiring identified the root cause:
The crankshaft position sensor wires had been mixed up, resulting in an incorrect signal connection.

Repair Performed
Corrected the crankshaft position sensor wiring
Verified a proper crankshaft signal at the ECM using the oscilloscope
Cleared the fault code
Confirmed the engine started and operated normally

Key Takeaway
A P0335 code does not always mean the crankshaft position sensor is faulty. Incorrect wiring, poor connections, or wiring repairs can produce the same symptoms.

Using an oscilloscope allows you to verify whether the ECM is actually receiving a valid crankshaft signal before replacing parts.
