This is a hobby for me and as such, only for fun and in response to over thirty individuals who have bought items from me on Facebook in the past. Today, one of the busiest ports in the world sits in the heart of the southern portion of this unique island - where wares of an entire world and of this place have come and gone. From earthly goods to value added man made products, art/artifacts, antiq
ues, valuables and more; it is fair to say that Taiwan has seen and made it all. And, as a hobby, I have been visiting one of the most unique flea markets in all of Taiwan, in the port city of Kaohsiung. A flea market that is clearly filled by discarded or forgotten items. Stuff that in a previous life found its way across oceans, over land and air through trade, travel, curiosity or simply as the result of the kindness of gift giving and reciprocity. This flea market and a dozen other small flea shops between Kaohsiung and Tainan are also part of the inspiration for this. Oh and I must not forget, a great aunt who used to proudly expound upon the Phoenician heritage on my family's maternal side.
