【ｗｏｒｋ　ｆｒｏｍ　ｈｏｍｅ】has now become (っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ work from the beach ♥

I honestly never even thought that working from home would be a reality for me - let alone working on the sandy shores of this gorgeous beach just north of Taipei city! 🏖🌊☀️ I’m so glad my friend asked me that morning! it was actually such a spontaneous move that gave me literal anxiety in the moment but it was all worth it in the end 😌

We got fish and chips at this cute little restaurant just off the beach and we were probably the last people there 🙈 ever since moving to Taipei I haven’t been out in nature as much and it was just a really refreshing moment of being out with friends, pups, and beautiful views 💫🌞

back to for the weekend and it’s been a 𝓭𝓮𝓮𝓮𝓮𝓮𝓵𝓲𝓬𝓲𝓸𝓾𝓼 start! 😋🐟

the DIY bowls at are so easy to choose from with soooo many topping options 🍤🥙 I especially love their efficient QR code system of ordering and then paying at the counter (or online!)

I got the:
🍣 salmon + tuna
🍙🥗 half rice + half salad
🧆 hummus
🌽 corn
🥚tamago
🌱seaweed salad
🦀 crab salad
🦐 shrimp roe
🧄 garlic chips

I’ve had poke in kaohsiung before that wasn’t great so I was a little skeptical, but this place really blew me away! will definitely be back next time 😋💖

𝓼𝓪𝓵𝓶𝓸𝓷 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 😵‍💫🌧☔️⛈

this literal NON-STOP POURING in taipei has got me in a MOOD 😮‍💨 there are days when I can’t even step outside because it’s so wet and acidic! but at times like these I’m super glad working from home is an option 😌

luckily really got me feeling better with their incredible assortment of Californian style sushi 🍣🍱 their rolls are always so fresh and come in handy when I’m craving something that packs more of a punch 🤜🏻

𝐓𝐨𝐟𝐮 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐨𝐨) 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞! 🤩🥳🎉

We celebrated the weekend with friends, food and lots of love!! We also had a picnic in the park where lots of mosquitoes and ants also decided to come celebrate with us 😅🎊

Huge shoutout to our friend for getting this pup-tastic cake for our fur babies from 🐶🍰
the set came with:

🐥 stuffed chicken (with veggies)

it’s still spring but it legit feels like summer already here in Taiwan 🥵🇹🇼

the humidity is ✨k i l l i n g✨me ….
but good thing there’s a right across the street from my house 🥺

this drink is honestly one of the best things I’ve ever had - NO LIE!!! I’ve had it like 10 times already and it’s a special drink that just came out 🙈

a refreshing slush containing real🍊🥭🍈🥛+ tea jelly!! soooooo good for this scorching weather as I sweat my face off 🥴

let me know if North America has this new flavour as well!!!! 💗

😤 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 😤

first, please take in this 𝓭𝓮𝓵𝓲𝓬𝓲𝓸𝓾𝓼 taco bowl featuring:

🐮ox tongue (literally my fav meat ever)
🥑 avocado
🌽 spiced corn
🍅 salsa
🧀 shredded cheese
+ brown rice, lettuce and sour cream

and here is where the story begins …

so my coworkers and I went out for lunch at .taipei today and I got this amazing taco bowl with ox tongue (and they haven’t had it the last few times I went so I was super excited) 🌮 but it was a little too spicy so I took a few bites and then saved it for later aka after work

i get back to the office and put it in the fridge LABELLED WITH MY NAME ON IT

fast forward to 6:30pm when I’m happily waltzing over to the fridge to reclaim my taco bowl and low and behold, the fridge is empty 😐

The cleaning lady (who literally does nothing and walks around pretending to clean everyday) is standing there with a giant trash bag with it being very apparent that she has emptied the fridge

I told her that she wasn’t supposed to throw out any labelled food and she looks at me ….. AND SHRUGS …… AND SAYS 喔⋯不好意思 (translates to ‘oh my bad’ in this context)

I’m literally fuming because she wasted an almost entirely full container of delicious (and expensive!!!!) food that I was looking forward to WITHOUT EVEN BEING APOLOGETIC FOR HER CARELESS MISTAKE 😤😤😤

I’m not even usually a dramatic person but like ….. this one just hit me hard 😡😠 anyway, thanks for listening hahaha let me know if you guys have any tragic food stories like this ⤵️

so 𝓵𝓸𝓪𝓭𝓮𝓭 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓬𝓱𝓮𝓮𝓼𝔂 the toppings couldn’t even stay on top! 🙈🍕

with over 20 different types of pizza, definitely has something for everyone! They’re also thin crust so you can save your tummy space for MORE PIZZA!!! 😋

Unfortunately they close around 9pm, so my friend and I packed it up and had a little late night picnic afterwards at the park which was super fun 🥰🧺

There’s a few locations across Taipei - definitely a must try!! 🇹🇼🍕

As the weather starts to 𝓱𝓮𝓪𝓽 up, (it’s gets hot real quick here in Taiwan!) we definitely needed some 𝕔𝕠𝕠𝕝 𝕟 𝕗𝕚𝕫𝕫𝕪 drinks to keep up refreshed 🥂

We love for their delicious drinks, wide variety of foods and gorgeous lakeside view 🛥 it’s so pretty especially at night with all the fairy lights and aesthetic decor ✨

Their homemade sangria is one of my favs 🍹as well as their mojito and other fruity drinks! Their steak is also delicious!! Perfect for sharing 😋

They also have pet meals which makes this the perfect place to have a night out but also make sure your furry friend is happy and well fed 🐶🐾

this place was definitely no 𝓶𝓲𝓼-𝓼𝓽𝓮𝓪𝓴, an American classic in the heart of Taipei!

we rung in the new year here and everything was amazing! They had incredible service (quite similar to that of the states) and the food was delicious as well 😋🍴

Luckily in Taiwan, the maximum service charge (usually) is 10%, which is a steal compared to 18-22% in the states for upscale dining 😩

We got the:

🍅burrata salad
🥦brussel Sprouts
🍄porcini mushrooms
🥩tomahawk steak (shared)
🦞lobster + cream

definitely pricier than your average meal out, but definitely worth it for a nice occasion out! 🎉

realizing that everything was ✨ 𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣-𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 ✨🍜

quick life update: I quit my job

…. and it was quite possibly one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made in my life 😓

as an educator my students always come first, and leaving mid-year was never something I would have ever thought of doing 😣 but slowly I began to realize that I need to put myself first - which involves my own physical, mental and emotional well-being 😷

here are some lessons I’ve learned along the way:

✏️ gaslighting in the workplace is very real

✏️ somehow the least capable people truly do make it to the top

✏️ private school is not a substitute for good parenting

✏️ busywork is not the same as actually being busy

I just had an incredible last day with my students - full of tears, surprises and overwhelming joy 🥰 (if you’re one of my students reading this - I miss u lots already!)

As I continue to pray, learn and reflect on the current situation, I’m so thankful to be living in a country () that supports democracy, freedom and human rights as just some of its many core values 🌎

utilized their massive light show display to show their support and raise awareness for the Ukrainians - I’m so proud of my city💡

I recognize my privilege in being able to take a step back and put down my phone when I’m feeling too stressed or burnt out from all the distressing news 😞 but with that being said, I truly believe that only through empathy and compassion (from being actively informed) for one another can we collectively heal and grow towards a brighter future as a global society ❤️‍🩹
