Pamoja Bags Tanzania Different bags made out of Kitenge and Kanga by women in Tanzania They introduced to her the idea to design different bags made of Kitenge.

The Tanzanian label “pamoja” is a small project of the Tanzanian tailor Flora and her friends Stefanie and Ute. It is all about bags made out of Kitenge and the support of Flora.

2009 two ladies from Germany visited Flora in her workshop and ask if she would like to make some bags for them. Flora started to train herself how to make bags and became a professional in this tailoring business. Her f

riends support her in marketing, creating the label and selling the bags. With this opportunity Flora gets additional money which she especially as single mother needs for her daughter. Flora´s single child, Catherine was born 2003. Since she was born, she is disabled. She can not walk, can not talk. Flora does not know why Cathy is in this position. Flora is taking care alone, there is no father. As a single mother with a disabled child you are very alone in Tanzania. No support from the government, often no support from the family.
