Meet Lorenza, WomenCraft’s Director 🌸

For her, WomenCraft has always been about more than making beautiful objects. It is about creating space for skill, independence, exchange, and ideas to grow, from artisan groups in Ngara to homes and interiors around the world.

Every collection starts with listening: to artisans, to designers, to traditions, and to the possibilities that emerge when they come together ✨

What holds a WomenCraft piece together?
At its core: a bundle of papyrus grass 🌾
Around it, star grass is carefully coiled and stitched by hand, row after row, until structure becomes shape, texture, and pattern 🌱
Colored details come from sewing thread or recycled grain-sack thread, woven into the surface as the piece grows.

It is a slow technique that asks for precision, patience, and years of knowledge held in the hands. Look closely: every line is made by hand

Meet Illah! 💛
She is often the first person to welcome you into our Dar es Salaam store, and the one who will help you find the piece that feels right for your space.

Ask her about colour, shape, or how to style a wall hanging. She knows the collections inside out, but more importantly, she knows how people live with them.

Her current favourite? The home essential wall hangings 🌸

Come say hello to Illah at the store!
