He is also known as the creator of perfumes. He created fragrances: Chloé (1975), KL (1982), KL pour Homme (1986), Lagerfeld Photo (1990), Sun Moon Stars (1994), Jako (1997).
In 2000 he founded his own publishing house in Paris called 7L. In the same year he sold part of his collection of books on French art of the XVIII century at Christie's auction. He owned a bookstore "7L" in Paris. He was a great book lover, owned a personal library of 300,000 volumes.
In 2007, Rodolf Marconi's film "Lagerfeld's Secrets" (Lagerfeld. Confidential) premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.
He was not married, has no children. After the death of HIV in 1989, his partner Jacques de Bascher lived alone. Of the servants in his house, he kept only the housekeeper, the cook, and the driver, who were at his disposal all day. According to Lagerfeld, he is not interested in s*x.
On February 18, 2019 he was hospitalized in the suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine, on February 19 he died of pancreatic cancer.
