OK....we have had a look at a couple of shock pistons lately but there has been a very interesting development from Dal Soggio in the fork department.
The latest generation of the Sphere Cartridge, the "Sphere 3" has a very interesting "Direct Feed" port design on the compression valve.
The fluid being pushed through the valve no longer has to find its way around the check plate, into a 90 degree, side access vent and then turn a further 90 degrees into the port itself before encountering the shimstack.
Now the fluid acts directly on the shimstack, maximising fluid efficiency and developing supposed optimal damping characteristics.
Given that their FSR48 fork was recently voted "The Best Ever Tested" by Motocross action....they may be on to something.
