We just want to make sure that the message is clear that Vermilion Parish School district employees will not pay higher fees at local independent pharmacies. There’s 7 independent pharmacies in Vermilion Parish and they chose to steer their employees to big chains and mail order. We ask you to please support your local pharmacies! This law was passed by Louisiana legislature to force the Pharmacy Benefit Managers to pay the independent pharmacies an $11.81 dispensing fee, because they are underpaying independents compared to what they are paying the pharmacies that the same PBMs own! It’s an unfair monopoly! Patient steering is also illegal in the state of Louisiana.
