What’s the story with that giant deer skull downtown? 🦌

At 18 feet tall, Desert Mule Deer Skull on N. 1st is impossible to miss—but its story is easy to.

Texas artist Joe Barrington grew up playing in his father’s welding shop, learning the craft and skill of shaping metal. Today, he turns the found objects and landscapes of the Southwest into larger-than-life works of steel.

Something else that’s easy to miss? Look closely at the antlers. That dark steel is crafted to look like leather!
