Where did it all begin? My quilting origins started way back in the sixth grade. Using a sewing machine I inherited from my aunt, I made my first quilt. I was blessed to spend a weekend with my Granny Ruby, who taught me how to quilt. I will never forget that weekend or the things she taught me. The quilt I made is pictured above.
I hadn’t sewed much since then until the pandemic. God placed it on my heart to dig out my sewing machine to make masks for people and it just grew from there. I haven’t stopped sewing since. I discovered my love for quilting remains.

Igquiltfest2022day5 prompt is why do you quilt? Simply put, I quilt to show my love. Pictured is a quilt label I attached to my son’s quilt. He’s to old for my lap these days but he can still wrap up in this quilt and feel my love. It’s a simple reminder that no matter where you go, I’m here loving you. And that’s my number one reason for quilting, to extend my love to others.
