🎣 WHAT A WAY TO WRAP UP OUR 2026 YOUTH FISHING EVENTS! 🎣

The rain held off just long enough for us to have a GREAT turnout at our Kiptopeke Youth Fishing Event! 🙌

We had lots of kids and families come out, an amazing group of volunteers, and — most importantly — the fish cooperated! 🐟❤️

🏆 Congratulations to our 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place winners!

🥇 1st Place: 12” Speckled Trout
🥈 2nd Place: 9” Speckled Trout
🥉 3rd Place: 8.75” Bluefish

A huge THANK YOU to all of the families who joined us and to our volunteers who continue to give their time to make these events possible. Seeing so many kids fishing, learning, and making memories with their families is exactly what these outings are all about.

What a way to wrap up the year! ❤️🎣

We already can’t wait to do it all again next year! Please stay connected and we hope you’ll join us at our 2027 Annual Banquet!

🎣 WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DAY — THANK YOU! 🎣

The 36th Annual Onancock Bay Challenge is officially in the books, and what an amazing turnout we had — 201 participants! 🐟👏

The weather certainly kept us guessing! We had wind, rain, a little sunshine, and everything in between — but that didn’t stop our fishing community from showing up!

Through it all, our anglers were warriors, our volunteers kept things moving, and our community came together as ONE to make this year’s Bay Challenge a tremendous success. ❤️🎣

A HUGE thank you to:

🎣 All 201 participants who came out and fished with us
🙌 Our incredible volunteers who gave their time and worked hard behind the scenes
❤️ Our generous sponsors whose support and donations help make this event possible year after year
🤝 Our entire fishing community for continuing to support this great Eastern Shore tradition

Events like this remind us that it’s about more than the fish and the prizes — it’s about the people, the friendships, the families, and a community that shares a love for fishing and our Eastern Shore waters.

📍 Capt. Steve’s Bait and Tackle — Chincoteague

💵 Adults: $25
🎣 Juniors age 15 & under: FREE when fishing on a registered boat.

Last-minute registration will also be available at Onancock Wharf on Friday, September 4, from 12:00–6:00 p.m.

🚨 IMPORTANT: There will be NO Saturday morning registration. All anglers fishing from a boat must be registered in advance.

Checks should be made payable to Onancock Bay Challenge.

📅 TOURNAMENT DAY — SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
🌧️ Bad-weather date: Sunday, September 6
⏰ Fishing begins: 6:00 a.m.
⚖️ Weigh-in begins: 3:00 p.m.
🚨 You MUST be in the weigh-in line at Onancock Wharf by 4:00 p.m. to qualify for prizes.

Anglers may fish anywhere in Virginia waters, but everyone must return to the Onancock Wharf weigh-in site by the deadline.

❤️ FISHING FOR A GREAT CAUSE

Most of the money raised through the Bay Challenge is donated to the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, helping provide educational opportunities for young people in our community. We also encourage local families to watch for and apply for the Field Station’s 2027 summer camp programs!
