NOTICE:
Paving work on SR 9, SR 547 in Whatcom County begins Monday, June 15

SUMAS – A paving project in Whatcom County that will create a smoother ride for travelers on three sections of State Route 9 and one section of SR 547 begins Monday, June 15. People traveling through those areas may encounter some delays until the project wraps later this summer.

The Washington State Department of Transportation selected Granite Construction with a winning bid of more than $6 million to repave more than 12 miles of SR 9 and SR 547.

Crews will make full-depth pavement repairs, seal cracks and install new pavement markings along four stretches of highway:
•SR 9 from Park Road to north of Doran Road (mileposts 68 to 69) near the Skagit County line
•SR 9 from Nugents Corner nearly to South Pass Road (mileposts 84 to 90) between Deming and Nooksack
•SR 9 from the Nooksack Road/SR 546 intersection to near Bowen Street (mileposts 94 to 97) south of Sumas
•SR 547 from Saar Creek to the Sumas River (mileposts 9 to 10) east of Sumas

Some of these sections were last paved in 1998. This project will not only create a smoother driving surface for travelers, but also preserve vital sections of highway for years to come.

What to expect
Crews will reduce lanes between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily Sundays through Thursdays, though work on Sundays will be limited. Flaggers and pilot vehicles will alternate northbound and southbound traffic through work zones. Much of the work requires dry weather, but the project is expected to finish construction in late August.

People should plan for delays in areas where contractor crews are working. WSDOT will announce where crews will be working on the project webpage, its Travel Map and on social media. People can also sign up for WSDOT’s Whatcom County email updates.

Today is all about sewing the sample for the store of our upcoming Western Washington shop hop block. It will be a counter top runner.

Now open 7-days a week 11-3 in Acme, Wa. Outside shop hop hours. We have updated Google to show our shop hop hours which are also on the program.

We have a limited number of kits and every kit gets a complimentary center block to use or keep for another project. The lot includes all fabric to make block without the center free gift block.

We show the center complimentary block in our sample however, the pattern shows both ways to make block.

I originally used our 77 Fruits, Vegetables & Candy, Charms on a Panel™, to create the quilt that's hanging on the wall in the shop.

With 77 different 5" prints to choose from, it's almost like getting TWO quilts out of one panel! Not wanting to waste those adorable leftovers, the squares keep going into new projects I gathered up the scraps and created a little table runner. And the best part? I STILL have enough blocks left that I could probably make a lap quilt too! One panel... - A wall quilt -A table runner - Enough leftovers for another project.

Happy June from Create It Studio!

As we welcome summer, we want to extend a heartfelt **thank you** to everyone who participated in the **All Pacific Northwest Shop Hop** during April and May. We loved seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new quilting friends from across the region. Your support means the world to us!

Get Ready for the Western Washington Shop Hop!

We're already hard at work restocking the store with exciting new products and fresh inventory for the upcoming **Western Washington Shop Hop**, which begins **June 15th**. Passport programs are available when you walk into the store while supplies last, so be sure to grab yours early.

Expanded Summer Hours

To better serve our customers during the busy shop hop season, we're excited to announce that **Create It Studio will be open 7 days a week through the end of September! ** Outside of shop hop events, our regular daily hours will be **11:00 AM – 3:00 PM**. During the Western Washington Shop Hop, we'll offer expanded hours through the end of June, check google or the program. The easiest way to check our current hours is on Google, we keep it updated so you'll always know when we're open!

Beginning this year on June 15th, Create It Studio will operate on a seasonal schedule:
April – September: Open **7 days a week**
October – March: Open **4 days a week** Thank you to everyone who provided feedback regarding our winter hours. Based on customer input, the winning schedule was: **Wednesday through Saturday**

We are expanding and hiring one more person to expand our days to be open 7-days a week which means adding Tuesdays 11-3 at the fabric shop.

We are looking for one customer service person to work 11-3 every Tuesday and opportunity for more hours occasionally to back up other days if folks are out unexpectedly.
