Looking for a local Christmas gift idea? Or, if you are new to the area you may be interested in "Lake Stevens, My Town" by long time Lake Stevens resident Jim Mitchell who passed away in 2015. It is an essential read for anyone who wants to understand the history of Lake Stevens.
"The cover of Jim Mitchell's self-published book on Lake Stevens depicts a downtown scene from 1960 that no longer exists.(We also have a postcard of the scene on the cover for 1.00.) That's appropriate because much of his book, "Lake Stevens — My Town: Recollections of a Native Son," describes a bygone era when the lake was a popular tourist attraction and parents allowed their children to roam without worry."
