You met the PRS Tekton yesterday. Saturday, you can play one.

The Tekton Test Drive is this Saturday, October 24, from 12-4 PM at Tone Shop Guitars Addison. A factory expert from PRS Guitars will be in the store with one of every Tekton model: the Tekton, Tekton T, Tekton “Floyd” and the seven-string Tekton SVN. Plug them in side by side, find the one that fits your hands and ask PRS anything you want to know. We’ll have giveaways running all afternoon.

PRS just launched an entire new family of guitars.

The Tekton is built for modern players, and it arrives as four models: hardtail, tremolo, Floyd Rose, and a seven string.

Swipe through. New Stylus pickups voiced with a flatter output so they stay clear through a tube amp or a digital rig, usable in every position split or full humbucking. Stainless steel frets across the family, 16 inch radius, Luminlay side dots. A new body shape with a deep scoop for upper fret access, and the thinnest body and neck PRS has put into standard production. The Tekton SVN is the first seven string in PRS’s American made catalog, built at a 26.5 inch scale.

Come play them. Tekton Test Drive this Saturday in Addison, 12pm to 4pm, with a PRS expert on hand.

Next up in the new American Professional lineup, the Telecaster.

Sebastian has this one in Aged Cherry Sunburst. New V-Mod III single coils with a magnet stagger that follows the fretboard radius, a bridge that takes strings through the body or top loaded with compensated brass bullet saddles, a push push tone control for extra voices, and a Deep C neck with rolled edges.

Chad’s first bass was a 1973 Jazz Bass in natural ash.

So handing him the new American Professional Jazz Bass in Natural Ash felt about right. New Jazz Bass V-Mod III pickups, a redesigned HiMass Modern bridge, ClassicGear Precision pots, and a slim C neck with rolled edges. Same look that pulled him in fifty years ago, built the way Fender is building now.

Overall, a pretty good Saturday for Chad. He would know.

The Jaguar is back in the American Professional lineup.

It sat out the entire run of the last series, so Tyler was glad to get this one in hand. Paul Waller finished this Telecaster before Thursday’s show. It came out so good, we couldn’t ask him to take it apart and build it again for the crowd.

So Paul walked the room through how a Masterbuilt guitar comes together with the finished guitar in his hands, while Josefina Campos wound pickups by hand a few feet away. Thank you to everyone who packed the shop for the Fender Custom Shop Road Show. Watching two people this good at what they do, up close, in our own store, is something we won’t forget.

James, congratulations. That Telecaster is yours, along with a set of Tone Shop exclusive pickups Josefina wound just for the event. We can’t think of a better home for it.

When the Fender Custom Shop wanted to bring a Master Builder to Texas for our anniversary, they came to Tone Shop. There’s a reason: over 100 Custom Shop guitars on our wall, and people coming in from all over the country to play them. Come play a few, or sit down with Doty and spec your own.

Tonight: the Fender Custom Shop in Addison.

Paul Waller has built guitars for Keith Richards, Bono and Buddy Guy. Josefina Campos learned to wind pickups from Abigail Ybarra, the winder Leo Fender hired in 1956. Tonight from 7-9 PM, they’re both in our shop. Paul finishes a Masterbuilt Telecaster, Josefina winds a set of pickups by hand, and there’s special event pricing and giveaways all night. Free and open to everyone. Must be present to win.
