🎉 WE HAVE OUR FIRST CHICKEN EGG! 🎉

The wait is officially OVER! Look at this absolute beauty that was waiting for us in the coop today. A gorgeous pastel green/blue pullet egg! 🥚✨

The girls have been hard at work scratching, dust bathing, and rearrangement of all the sand we just raked, but clearly, someone was getting down to business behind the scenes.

One down, many more to come as the rest of the flock catches up! 🐔💚

Milestone unlocked! 🎉

One of our sweet girls laid her very first egg today, and she definitely brought her own artistic twist to it! Look at those rich brown speckles over that soft blue shell.

Did you know? The blue color comes from the Celadon gene, but those brown spots are deposited right at the end of the laying process—meaning no two speckled blue eggs look exactly alike! 🎨
We’re so excited to see her join our active layers.
How many of you are team speckled eggs? 🥚✨

🐣 BIG NEWS FROM FREYA’S GROVE! 🐣

We have hit a huge milestone on the homestead! The very first baby that was laid and hatched right here at Freya’s Grove has officially arrived! 🌿✨
Watching life go full circle on the farm is truly the most rewarding part of what we do. From egg to little chick/hatchling, this sweet little one is already so loved.

Welcome to the world, little one! Redefining "homegrown" one day at a time. ❤️

🧑‍🌾 I used AI to generate what my fall garden might look. It did put a few items on the wrong sides, but the general idea is there.

🥰 If if even looks have this good I would be completely thrilled.

Row 1 (Far Back): Sugar snaps planted along both sides. 2/3 Chocolate Cherry sunflowers on the right, 1/3 Yellow sunflowers on the left.
Row 2: Pinkeye peas running along both the front and back sides.
Row 3: Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Cabbage.
Row 4: Landis Winter lettuce, Burpee Bibb, and Purple Cabbage.
Row 5: 2/3 Parris Island lettuce, 1/3 Mesclun blend.
Row 6 (Far Front): 2/3 Gourmet lettuce mix, 1/3 Mesclun blend.

They say you can't measure a big heart, and Runt (on the left) is proving that true. He may be the smallest, but he’s got the biggest spirit of all. What a tiny champ! 🐣💪

Can you believe these tiny feather babies are almost 2 weeks old already?! 🐣🌾✨ It is so amazing watching them grow every single day, especially seeing those gorgeous wing feathers pin in and spread out! 🪶🪺🤎

And of course, I have to give a extra big shoutout to this tiny sweetheart, Runt! 🥹💛 It may be small, but it's got a huge place in our hearts! 💪🐥✨

🐣 Exciting hatch news! 🐣

We just finished our latest hatch and welcomed 16 fluffy little quail chicks out of 20 eggs! 🎉 That’s an 80% hatch rate, and we couldn't be happier with how well these tiny guys did.

They are officially moved over, warm, and cozy in the brooder, super active, and settled right in.
There’s nothing quite like the sound of tiny peeps filling the room! Stay tuned for updates and pictures as these sweet fluffballs grow! 💕✨

The circle of life is strong at Freya's Grove today! While one generation is busy breaking out of their shells in the brooder, our established flock was busy bringing this into the coop. The first official egg laid on the homestead! 🌾🍳

First 9 are officially brooder-approved! 🐣✨

I swear these Coturnix babies look like little bumblebees or hyperactive beetles zooming out from under the heat plate. 🐝💨

Meanwhile, we’ve still got 11 eggs hanging out in the incubator holding down the fort. Wave two, we are ready for you!
