Our Novel Writing Workshop kicks off a 12-week Fall Term on September 15 here in Akron. It meets every other Tuesday 6-8pm: generative writing + paired critique, and a community of writers who show up for each other. No prior experience needed.

You’ve been asking and we wanted to share an update after the stunning mismanagement and subsequent abrupt closure of the Northside Marketplace where we had our bookshelves.

Elizabeth's isn't going anywhere. Our community programming hasn't skipped a single Saturday. We're in our FIFTH YEAR of Free Drop-In Poetry Workshops, most Saturdays at 11am at The Well CDC. We also just celebrated THREE YEARS of our monthly Q***r Reader Meetups, held the first Saturday from noon to 2pm at The Well. This fall we're relaunching our BIPOC and All Reader Meetups, and we need volunteer hosts to lead them; reach out through our website's contact page if that's you. You can also catch us in person at Akron Pride on August 22.

Right now, the most direct way to support us is through our online store at http://bookshop.org/shop/elizabeths (also linked on our website). Every order through that site helps us move toward our next chapter.

We also offer a growing range of services for businesses and nonprofits, from custom-tailored writing workshops to bulk book orders to inclusive shelf curation and book drives; the full list is on our website.

Join us for an in-person community book club in collaboration with the University of Akron’s EX[L] Center and the Bridges to Understanding event series.

We’ll read Calling In: How to Start Making Change with Those You’d Rather Cancel by Loretta Ross, a powerful guide to accountability, dialogue, and change without disposability.

Our own .cargle will co-moderate a discussion with educator and advocate Nikki Crawford and readers.
