There’s something different about finding a candle that just works for you in your space.

When the scent becomes part of the room.
When it becomes something other people notice when they walk through the door.

A customer recently shared:
“After getting a few of these amazing candles, I’m hooked for life!! Every time someone comes in my home they rave about how good it smells.”

That’s what I want a Scent Journey to be; not something you experience once, but a fragrance that becomes a part of your space. Something that you know brings joy and light.

This month’s featured scent, Cleaning Day, opens with cucumber and melon, lifts with eucalyptus and lemon, then settles into warm amber and santal.

Saturday mornings used to mean one thing: the music came on, the windows went up, and everybody knew what was about to happen.

I hated Cleaning Day then.

Now, I understand the satisfaction of it.
The fresh air. The clear space. The quiet pride of looking around your home when everything feels cared for.

Cleaning Day was inspired by that reset.

Crisp eucalyptus, cucumber, and melon create a fragrance that feels bright, refreshing, and clean, while amber and santal keep it warm and grounded.

When I started making candles, I paid as much attention to how they burned as to how they smelled.

Black Love is made with shimmering vegan coconut-apricot wax, and when properly cared for, burns slowly and cleanly.

I use a wood tube wick because it does more than add a gentle crackle. Its shape helps the wax melt more evenly, which reduces tunneling and leaves less wax behind.

Then there is the etched glass. The design is etched directly into the vessel. When the candle is lit, the flame shines through the etching, giving it a soft, ambient glow.

These details shape the entire Scent Journey experience: the inspired scent, the way it burns, the ambient light, and the gentle crackle.

I’ll be at Art on the Green in Hudson on August 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

I have some exciting news.

I’ve been accepted into the Fall 2026 cohort of Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business.

Black Culture Candles has grown so much since 2021. What began with a need to make candles that didn’t trigger my asthma has become a Scent Journey through Joy, Culture and Connection.

Over the next 12 weeks, I’ll be taking a close look at what’s working, what needs to be strengthened, and what’ll help the brand continue to grow.

To everyone who has purchased a candle, visited me at a show, shared the brand with someone, or simply cheered me on; thank you. You’re part of this story, too.

I’m looking forward to bringing what I learn back to Black Culture Candles and seeing where it takes me next.

Sometimes love looks like a note written by hand, someone taking the time to choose thoughtful words, put them on paper, and let you know they were thinking of you.

It’s through thoughtful, consistent acts that love becomes something we recognize and feel.

That feeling is at the heart of the Black Love candle.
