It is with broken hearts that we announce that Northside Marketplace will permanently close on July 31, 2026.
Northside Marketplace has always been more than a collection of vendors. It was created as a place where local entrepreneurs could take a chance on a dream, where small businesses could grow, and where our community could discover something unique.
From the very beginning, this has been a passion project for our family. We have invested significant time, resources, and financial support because we truly believed in the mission of helping local businesses succeed.
Despite every effort by Testa Companies to try to step back in find a sustainable path forward—including exploring new operating models and the creation of a nonprofit organization—we have reached the difficult conclusion that the Marketplace's current financial realities simply cannot support its future.
While this chapter is ending, the incredible small businesses inside these walls are not.
Over the next two weeks, we are asking our community to help us give these entrepreneurs the sendoff they deserve.
Please visit Northside Marketplace before July 31.

Every purchase made during these final days directly supports the small business owners who have poured their hearts into their businesses.
We are also encouraged that many of our makers and artisans may have the opportunity to continue their journeys at The Mercantile, a new locally focused marketplace opening this September at Cascade Plaza in downtown Akron. We have been working with co-founder Shane Wynn to help connect our vendors with this opportunity, and we are hopeful that many of your favorite businesses will find a new home there.
As those vendors announce their plans, we encourage you to continue supporting them by following them to their next chapter. Local entrepreneurs are the heart of our communities, and they thrive because of customers like you.
To every customer who visited, every vendor who took a chance, every employee, volunteer, and supporter—thank you. You made Northside Marketplace something truly special, and we will always be grateful for the memories we created together. We watched hundreds of local entrepreneurs take a chance on their dream, test out their concepts and hone their skills in running their own business. We have several major success stories of owners quitting their day job to go all in on what was previously their side hustle. They hired employees, expanded, went into bricks and mortar in our community and even purchased their own buildings. We brought Ebay to Akron to launch their National Retail Revival program from the Northside Marketplace and American Express showcased us in their Shop Small Everyday campaigns. This experience has proved that shopping small matters and that Akron has a wealth of talent that just needs the opportunity to shine and be seen.
Let's make these final two weeks a celebration of the amazing entrepreneurs who made this place what it was.
