Daily Devotion - Opposing Forces

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows.) John 10:10 AMPC

There are two forces in the world good and evil. And every single day, we're faced with both. Our job is to recognize them and respond accordingly. It takes wisdom to know the difference and faith to know how to proceed.

There is an enemy out there who hates you because you belong to God. Actually, he hates God the most, but since he can't destroy Him, we are the next in line. So t this enemy Satan goes to great lengths to steal from you, kill your hopes and dreams, and destroy your life. But the Lord came for different reasons. He planned a good life for you. This doesn't mean everything will be easy and that you'll be rich and powerful. Instead, it means you will find joy and abundance regardless of your circumstances because of your faith in God. And when the enemy does attack, the Lord promises to bring beauty from the ashes if you will trust Him.

Father, It's hard to imagine that Satan hates me like he does and knowing his plans are always for my destruction is disheartening and scary. Thank You for wanting more for me. Thank You for wanting my life to overflow with Your goodness. And thank You for being my protector. In Jesus' name I pray, amen

Today's Devotion - Join With My Heart

Yes, we will follow your ways, Lord Yahweh, and entwine our hearts with yours, for the fame of your name is all that we desire. Isiah 26:8

As you walk this road of life, you have an opportunity every day to partner with the purposes of my heart. My ways are steady and strong, so you can walk confidently, without fear, as you follow my example. My ways are full of loving-kindness and endless mercy. You will not find a more devoted love in this world.

The power of my affection is not weak. It puts the proud in their place and lifts the humble from the rubble of their circumstances. You cannot find it in being the object of my relentless kindness. No one can talk me out of my great grace. Join with me in extending mercy to those who need it. Partner with my compassion by serving those who could never offer you anything in return. Laid-down love is the most powerful force you will ever know. You have received, so also you are called to give freely. The more you offer, the greater capacity you will have to take in. Will you take this invitation to experience more of my love by pouring out a proper portion for the fame of my name? All who see your example will know whose you are, for compassionate responses clearly reflect my character.

Daily Devotion - The Faith To Run

The believer replied, "Every promise of God proves true; he protects everyone who runs to him for help. So don't second-guess him; he might take you to task and show up your lies." Proverbs 30:5-6 MSG

Some struggles we face have us crawling to the Lord for help. We are weighed down with insecurities or fear, and we crumble. And sometimes we walk to the Lord with our troubles. Not quite feeling the urgency yet, but we know we'll eventually need His
help so we start heading His direction. But then there are times we run because we know God is our only hope, and we are desperate.

What if instead of crawling or walking, we ran every time we needed the Father's help? What if we let Him be the first voice to speak into our situation? What if we had enough faith to trust Him with everything that threatened our peace? What if we believed His promises were real and true, and for us? What if we chose to be women who run to the Lord for protection, confident He will meet our needs? Let's do it.

Father, I want You to be my destination when life gets hard. I want You to be my first thought when I am afraid or insecure. Give me the confidence to run to You for help and hope. Grow my faith. In Jesus' name I pray. amen

Today's Devotion - Being Courageous

May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things our faith prompts you to do. 1 Thessalonians 1:11 NLT

Courage is often associated with acts of bravery that defy typical human experience: running through flames to save a child, jumping in raging river to pull someone to shore, or chasing down a thief to retrieve a stolen purse. But courage doesn't always look so heroic. Courage is standing your ground when you feel like running; nit's saying yes to something you feel God is telling you to do even when you aren't sure that you can do it.

Courage can be telling someone you don't want to hear their negative thoughts about other people. It can be sharing your testimony with a room full of people...or with one. Sometimes it takes courage just to leave, your house. When we place our trust and hope in God, he will give us the courage we need to do the tasks he wants us to do. If that includes doing something heroic, great! But let's not underestimate the importance of walking courageously in the small things as well.

Lord, so many things in life require me walking courageously. Some small, and some heroic. Give me the courage I need to get through each situation, so I can bring glory to your name.

Today's Devotion - Powerful Words

"son of man, let all my words sink deep into your own heart first. Listen to them carefully for yourself. Ezekiel 3:10 NLT

There is so much power in quieting our minds and listening t the voice of God as he speaks directly to us. We must learn to recognize his voice above any other sound. God has the power and the ability to speak to any situation we are going through, under any circumstance.

Since the beginning of time, God has begun powerful works with a powerful Word. When we listen for him to speak, we ready ourselves for him to do those works and through us.

Lord, I want to be someone who does powerful works for your kingdom. I know that I cannot do them without the words from you mouth. Let me be a listener who both absorbs your Word and is changed by it.

Today's Devotion - He Chose You

The Lord is all I need. He takes care of me. My share in life has been beautiful.
Psalm 16:5-6 NCV

If you are a follower of Christ, God chose precisely when and how to invite you to join his family. You received the most prestigious, coveted invitation in history. He chose you.

Maybe you simply yearned for more meaning in your life and he led you into a Christian community. Perhaps you needed a radical life change, to shed and addiction or other destructive pattern, and you felt him lift you out of the darkness. Regardless of how it happened, he called you by name, and now you are his.

Lord, I'll never get over it: you chose me. You pulled me out of darkness, into light and love and hope. I am yours, today and forever. Thank you!

Today's Devotion - Opened, Lifted, and Loved

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises up those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous. Psalm 146:8 NASB

Our God loves to restore life to his creation. When Jesus came to earth, he healed many physical needs. Greater than physical healing, Jesus came to restore our spiritual brokenness. He opened eyes to the truth, ministered to the poor in spirit, and restored believers to righteousness.

How blessed you are. He has opened your eyes, he will always life you up in times of trouble, and he loves you because you have chosen the path of righteousness. Let the God of encouragement and restoration be your strength today.

God, you have opened my eyes to the truth; you have forgiven my sin, and you love me. Some days I have fallen harder than others, and today I need you to once again bring restoration to my body and soul. Thank you for picking me up and encouraging me on the path of righteousness.

Today's Devotion

Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

True believers find joy in giving glory to God through their attitudes, their actions, and their words and that is a helpful guideline when we face a decision. Will what we might say and what we're tempted to do glorify God? Asking ourselves that question would undoubtedly keep us from doing some of the things we do and saying some of the things we say!

When you find yourself at temptations' corner and that happens several times a day stop. Don't just rush through the intersection or make a hasty and potentially wrong turn. Ask yourself three important questions: Can I thank God for what these words or actions will result in? Can I do or say this in Jesus' name? Can I do or say this for God's glory?

Asking ourselves these questions will enable us to more readily give thanks in all things. be God's light in this world, and give Him glory in all we say and do.

Lord, help me bring glory to Your matchless name in what I say and do today. In Jesus' name, Amen

When all our enemies heard of it they perceived that his successful rebuilding work was done by our God. Nehemiah 6:16

The walls of Jerusalem had been broken down, and Nehemiah led the rebuilding effort. What exactly was his motive? He did not keep it a secret: "that we may no longer be a reproach" (Nehemiah 2:17). Nehemiah's primary motive was to honor and bring glory to God, not himself.

There are a lot of broken down walls in what were once vibrant personal relationships. It is possible to rebuild those walls by, first, acknowledging your personal responsibility in the wreckage. Then work with the person you're reaching out to. You cannot rebuild a relationship alone. Once you've reestablished that relationship, keep working to protect and further strengthen it.

Relationships are hard work. The truth is, all of us need help from outside ourselves. We all need to acknowledge that the hand of our God is good upon us, and our ultimate purpose should always be to bring Him glory.

Just as Nehemiah gave God glory for the rebuilt walls.

Lord, let others see You in me. I want You to do something through me, not for me. In Jesus' name, Amen

Today's Devotion

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1

Have you ever thought about the fact that Psalm 23:1 does not say, "A lord is my shepherd"? The psalm says, "The Lord is my shepherd." There is no other Lord; He has no peer.

You speak of Washington, and I can speak of Lincoln. You speak of Beethoven, and I can speak of Handel. You speak of Alexander, and I can speak of Napoleon. But when if come to Christ, He stands alone without peers. There is only one Lord!

And only the records of haven will verify how many individuals through centuries have laid down their lives and gone to their deaths, martyred because they insisted on the truth of these first two words in Psalm 23: "The Lord." These faithful gave their lives because they were convinced there was only one Lord, and His saving name is Jesus.

Our God is still preeminent: He is the one and the only Lord.

Father, in all I say and do today, may I acknowledge You as my one and only Lord. Rule today from the throne of my heart, and where You lead, I will follow. In Jesus' name, Amen.
