Well that was fun … was just a guest on the “Bold Inventor” podcast talking to IP attorneys about why we open sourced the Makeboomboxes design. Sharing is more attuned to the soul of music, and it’s smart business to protect this invention by giving it away. We are prioritizing community over monopoly. By putting the design in the public domain it becomes “prior art” that nobody can take away from the public good, paradoxically protecting it as well if not better than patents. It is licensed to the public by a Creative Commons and a CERN license which may one day still need legal representation if infringed upon. So IP lawyers… learn about representing open source projects! And to the public, steal this design, please!
