Sometimes you go to a gem show expecting to load up… and sometimes you walk around
thinking,
“Yeah… we’re not buying this. 😂💎”
There was some cool material in Tucson, but a LOT of the pricing was so high that even the
“wholesale” deals were basically retail by the time everything was said and done.
And that’s not what The Crystal Playground is about. I’d rather walk away than buy overpriced
material just so I can say I came home with a haul.
BUT… the trip may have just gotten a whole lot more interesting. 👀🔥
I managed to get exclusive access to TWO wholesale warehouses tomorrow that I normally
wouldn’t have access to — so hopefully that’s where the real treasure is hiding.
Sometimes the best deal you make is the one you walk away from… and sometimes the next
door is the one you really needed opened. 💎
Stay tuned. Tomorrow could be banging. 😂🔥

Had a late start today, but I’m just enjoying my Sunday! I hope you are too! So the invoices are up on the website and we are going to do an invoice raffle like last week. I’m going to give it until midnight Arizona time and pull the raffle winners tomorrow morning. We will do the raffle as a live video, but it will be posted in case you miss it! As always, we love you guys! You are the secret sauce.🎉🔥

👽💜 ALIEN AMETHYST — INDIA 💜👽

Okay… these things look like somebody grew amethyst on another planet and dropped it in India. 😂

Alien Amethyst is the name given to an absolutely wild form of hematite-rich amethyst from Telangana, India. Deep purple quartz collides with red, rusty, bronze and sometimes almost black hematite, while the crystals can develop crazy stacked, irregular and almost extraterrestrial-looking formations.

This material really started turning heads after finds around 2023, and once you see a good specimen in person, the name makes perfect sense.

💜 Amethyst — Quartz, SiO₂
🔴 Hematite — Iron Oxide, Fe₂O₃
🌎 Locality — Telangana, India
👽 Trade Name — Alien Amethyst
🔥 Known for — Hematite coatings/inclusions, insane crystal geometry, deep purple color and one-of-a-kind formation.
And yes… we managed to get our hands on some. 😈💎

Okay, Playground—sometimes the best material comes to us through the strangest, most fortuitous turns of events…and that is exactly what happened this week.

I somehow ended up with an absolutely massive, 25-pound Veracruz plate from Mexico. This thing is ridiculous. It has an incredible presence, the crystal coverage is beautiful, and I honestly could not wait until Saturday to start showing it off.

We also picked up some of the coolest formations I’ve seen in a while: Mottramite “pineapples” from Maharashtra, India. These are pseudomorphs with white, puffy centers surrounded by large, spiky formations—and they genuinely look like mineral pineapples from another planet.

Then we have lazulite in marble, a beautiful deep-blue mineral often compared to lapis lazuli, along with bright brucite from Balochistan, Pakistan. The color and texture on these pieces are absolutely killer.

And the table isn’t going to be crystals alone.

We also found hand-painted Egyptian papyrus artwork featuring scenes based on traditional ancient Egyptian reliefs that still exist today. Every one has its own character, and they’re going to make an incredible addition to the show.

We’ll also have more of those gorgeous silver phantom selenites from Bermejillo, Durango, Mexico—and yes, we managed to get our hands on Imperial Topaz from Minas Gerais, Brazil.

This is one of those tables where every time I think I’ve picked my favorite piece, I turn around and see something else.

Join us live on Instagram this Saturday, August 22, beginning at:

I seriously cannot wait to show you these pieces up close. I hope you’ll come hang out with us—and trust me, you’re going to want to see that 25-pound Veracruz plate in person.

See you Saturday at The Crystal Playground. 💎🔥
