Last summer I bought some closeout fiber in a 60% seacell (a kind of tencel that is just a little bit softer and dreamier than regular tencel), 40% merino wool blend, and quickly became obsessed with how pretty it looked dyed and how soft and nice the resulting handspun yarn felt and looked. I can't get anymore of that stuff, so I've settled for offering a 60% tencel (almost as dreamy as seacell), 40% extra fine merino roving, and I'm still obsessed. Tencel, being a cellulose-based fiber, doesn't take up acid based dyes, so it creates this water-color kind of effect with the wool. Like my flax blend, this one is really nice for light garments. All the shades I currently have dyed are listed in my Etsy shop: http://woolspinewe.etsy.com.

When I was at the Red Alder Fiber Arts Fest in February, I saw a few yarn vendors that were offering a 50% Merino wool, 25% silk, and 25% flax (linen) blend yarn. I've been a bit obsessed with linen/wool blends since I bought a second hand linen/wool sweater and wear it ALL. THE. TIME. No one had that particular blend in roving however, so I decided I'd carry it. It's been lovely to spin, and softens up really nicely just with handling (the natural flax is a little hairy at first) and I imagine will soften further after setting the twist and knitting & blocking, etc. You can find it in my Etsy shop: http://woolspinewe.etsy.com.

I am so pleased with this new roving I brought to Black Sheep Gathering this past weekend, and which I am now listing online. It's Merino wool with tussah silk, grown in California by Grazing Dry Creek and milled in Washington by Rabbit Hill Wool Mill. It's soft, luscious, and a delight to dye and then spin. I couldn't be more pleased!!

My name is Claire and I'm anti-fascist. In fact, I'm liberal AF, I'd just rather talk about wool than politics. Although I'm always down to talk about the politics of wool! I'm also a mad as hell Latina woman. Just so we're clear.
