We had another successful art class at the RWC West Hill today! Nick has spent a ton of time volunteering his time there the past few months, w**d whacking properties owned by the center and around it, doing art classes and recently teaching English classes!
The amount of awesome diverse fun families who are so welcoming and generous, paired with everyone at the center, it’s really been such an honor and delight to be able to spend time with them.
The center has asked us at Earthworld to reach out to our amazing followers (since yall don’t just talk the talk, YOU WALK THE WALK) and ask for assistance. They are in need of English teachers for classes at the center. Before you say to yourself “I’m not a teacher, how the hell can I even do that?” Nick had the same thoughts, but after some reassurance that it’s just a matter of having simple, slow conversations with some of the families who are trying to assimilate into our awesome city. The first languages of the families ranges from Spanish, Pashto, Urdu, Swahili and more, so it’s been super fulfilling to be able to chat with these folks and learn about their cultures. The center runs classes during the week in the morning and evening and they’re ALWAYS looking for folks.
If you are interested in answering the call and bettering the community we all share and love, you can message us directly and we can get you all set up with the wonderful folks at the center. This has really been an amazing experience and we love being able to support our local friends.
***For reference, today’s lesson was abstract art, and Miss Trisha knocked it out of the park again, as always! The little sweetheart in pink has a serious future in art ahead of her, we have given her 2 fully blank comics and she’s filled them all up in record time with her awesome stories! She’s really been such a highlight of our art classes🖤
