We are happy to announce the we will be participating in the Preston County Farm Craw this year!! Come and visit the farm and see our Rare Breed Leicester Longwool Sheep and Nankin Bantam chickens, as well as our Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs! Also, you can see all of our talented artists demonstrating their skills of quilting, spinning wool into yarn, soap making, watercolor painting, knitting, crocheting, sourdough bread making, jewelry making, needle felting, old fashion candy making and more! You can also browse thru the Mercantile and see the fruits of our labors and see all the beautiful items we create. Please join us for a down on the farm experience!!

We still have spots available for our "Learn to Crochet" class at the Mercantile this Saturday, May 30, 9am to noon.
Learn the basic stitches of crochet and master the Granny stitch pattern and all the items you can make with it.
Cost of class is $50.00 and this includes all of your supplies and refreshments
Crocheting is a very therapeutic craft to learn, so please join us and get addicted to this wonderful pastime.

Today was the first class of the summer at the Mercantile and what a great day it was!!! Such a great group of ladies came and knocked it out of the park!! What a talented bunch of students!!
They each made a barn quilt to celebrate the 250th birthday of our wonderful country and did a beautiful job. Thank you, Becky Davis Tracy Lucas Rowe Kathy DeWitt Pat Miranoff Olivia Mock Vicki Warner Rebecca Bragg and Sarah Groth for making this such a great day!

Said no space agency ever.

Most people think of strong wool and picture a carpet or a blanket. Fair enough. But NZ wool also turns up in places you'd never expect, including filtration systems on NASA's Artemis mission to the moon, thanks to Kiwi company Lanaco.

The Barn Quilt class at the Mercantile on May 9th is sold out. Just a reminder to those who have signed up to send in their class fee to hold your spot. The cost for the class is $75.00 and includes all of your supplies and a homemade lunch. Info is on the attached page.

Do you know how to tell the difference between male and female monarchs?

The easiest way to tell them apart is that male monarchs have two small black dots on the top surface of the hindwing. You can see the spot when the wings are open, and sometimes it’s faintly visible when the wings are closed, too.

Females also tend to be slightly darker in color and have thicker wing veins.

Now, when you see a monarch visiting your garden this summer, you'll be able to tell whether it's a male or female!
