They hand you lime and two different sauces. I like my tacos creamy, so I used both.
These taste like Southern California. Like, genuinely.

Ube Sundae 🍨 What is Ube anyway?

There's a purple food that's been in every dessert shop you've walked past lately, and by the end of this video you're gonna know exactly what it is, but I need you to stick with me because the answer is not what you think.

So it's called ube. And a lot of people assume it's just purple food coloring thrown into stuff to make it trendy. It's not. That's actually the first misconception I need to clear up, and it's a big one.

Ube is a purple yam, originally from the Philippines, and it's been used in desserts there for way longer than it's been popping up on your feed. But here's the part that actually surprised me, and I promise I'm getting there.

A lot of people mix it up with taro, which is a completely different purple root, different flavor, different texture, and honestly, half the "ube" stuff you've eaten might not have even been real ube. That's a whole separate situation.

The actual flavor is subtly sweet, almost vanilla-like with a nutty edge, nothing like what the neon purple color is telling your brain to expect.

So next time you see it on a menu, you'll actually know what you're ordering, instead of just trusting the color.

Comment 'ube' if you've had it, comment 'taro' if you've been confused this whole time.
