Step back in time and discover one of art history’s oldest and most elegant drawing techniques! Before graphite pencils, artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, Raphael, Rembrandt, and Hans Holbein the Younger created extraordinary drawings using silver and other metals.
In this immersive, hands-on workshop, artist Leslie Lienau will introduce you to the fascinating history of metal point, demonstrate traditional drawing surfaces and gesso grounds, and share techniques that bring this centuries-old medium to life.
Then, you’ll create your own silverpoint drawing and explore essential mark-making techniques. ✍️ Silverpoint produces delicate, permanent lines that develop a beautiful patina over time—making it a truly unique experience for artists of all skill levels.
