Happy Independence Day from our family to yours.

Today we celebrate 250 years of Independence, and this year the 4th of July holds extra significance for us: it's also the due date for our 8th child. In preparation, our family has prayed the rosary together every evening as a 54-day novena for a safe and holy birth.

Two years ago on this day (first photo) we were expecting our 7th. Here he is now (second photo), our son Jack, getting ready to welcome his baby brother.

We're a small, family-run Catholic shop, and days like today remind us how much we have to be grateful for: the freedom to worship, to raise our children in the faith, and to run this business together. I'm proud to still serve in the Army National Guard, and that freedom is never something we take for granted.

However you're spending the Fourth, with family, at a cookout, or quietly at home, we're glad to share our faith and our country with you. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your family's faith.

In 1531 something miraculous happened in Mexico. Juan Diego was on his way to Mass near the Hill of Tepeyac, when he experienced the first of several apparitions of the Virgin Mary. She requested that a church be built at that site in her honor.

When the local bishop demanded a sign, Mary provided roses in winter, which Juan Diego carried in his tilma (cloak). When he opened his tilma before the bishop, the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe miraculously appeared on the fabric.

The appearance of our Lady of Guadalupe was the catalyst for the conversion of millions in Mexico and throughout the Americas in the following years.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, where the original tilma is housed, has become one of the most visited Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world.

Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Arriving to our warehouse this morning we got to see hundreds of hot air balloons in the sky from the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Yesterday one floated right overhead 50 feet off the ground. The downside is we lost power earlier this week when a balloon grazed a power line a few blocks away. Fortunately, no one was injured, and our power was back on in an hour.
