It’s because a few design principles are working together.⁠

My three biggest styling tips:⁠
⁠
✨ 1. Palette – Start with a cohesive color palette. Not everything has to be the same color, but your pieces should feel like they belong together.⁠
⁠
🌿 2. Texture – Mix smooth with rough, shiny with matte, woven with wood. Texture adds warmth and keeps a space from feeling flat.⁠
⁠
📏 3. Scale – Vary the heights and sizes of your pieces. A mix of large, medium, and small creates balance and keeps your eye moving.⁠
⁠
This shelf combines all three, and that’s what makes it feel collected instead of cluttered. ⁠

One little trick that makes a BIG difference. 🌿✨

I recently learned this tip from the incredibly talented florist John Mark of John Mark Sharpe in Memphis, and now I can’t unsee it.

When styling faux florals, don’t leave the stems perfectly straight. Real flowers naturally bend and reach toward the sun, so gently shaping the wired stems instantly makes your arrangement look more natural. Even better? The added movement creates fullness, so you can often use fewer stems while getting a bigger impact.

Don’t get us wrong—we love fresh flowers. But today’s faux florals are nothing like the ones our grandmothers had. They’re incredibly lifelike, stay beautiful season after season, and are perfect for anyone with a black thumb. 😉
