Know someone with Moxie?

We’re growing our team at Ms. Moxie’s Moon Shop, and we’re looking for a few polka-dot unicorns—people who believe in our mission, love learning, take initiative, and want to use their talents to help us make menstrual health easier to understand and talk about.

We’re currently hiring for:
• Marketing & Events Coordinator
• Retail Associates

You do not have to be a menstrual health expert—we can teach you that. We’re looking for curious, compassionate people who bring great skills and genuinely care about what we’re building.

And we need your help finding them! Tag someone who would be amazing at Ms. Moxie’s, send them this post, or share it with your network.

Full job postings and submission instructions are here: https://msmoxiesmoonshop.com/Jobpostings

Don’t see the perfect role but think you belong at Ms. Moxie’s anyway? We want to hear from you, too. Send us a message at [email protected] and tell us about yourself!

🩸 We’re putting the MEN in MENstrual!

If you’ve ever wanted to better understand what’s actually happening during a period—or be a little more helpful to someone you care about—come have a pint with us!

Bros Who Know Flows, our new series, is kicking off with periods & cycles (without the awkward health class vibes). We’re talking hormones, cycle phases, period products, symptoms, what helps, what definitely doesn’t…and all the questions you’ve maybe never had a place to ask.

🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏾‍♂️Dads. Partners. Brothers. Friends. Coworkers. Coaches. You’re invited! 🙋🏻‍♂️

And to all our menstruators: personally invite a man in your life. Send him this post and tell him you’d love for him to come. Sometimes the best way to bring people into the conversation is simply to let them know they’re welcome. ❤️

This is one of those workshops we wish everyone knew existed after breast cancer treatment. 💗

Shoulder pain, tightness, stiffness, and limited mobility can be common after surgery, radiation, reconstruction, lymph node removal, and other breast cancer treatments—but that doesn’t mean you simply have to live with them.

Join us at Ms. Moxie’s Moon Shop for an interactive 90-minute workshop with Sara Acheson PT, DPT, CLT-UE, CES, PCES, founder of Athena Wellness and a board-certified orthopedic physical therapist.

We’ll talk about why your body may feel different after treatment and, more importantly, what you can do about it. You’ll learn about breathing, posture, scar tissue, rib and shoulder-blade mobility, strength, and common concerns including cording, frozen shoulder, radiation fibrosis, lymphedema-related issues, and persistent pain.

And this isn’t just a lecture. You’ll practice gentle, evidence-based movements you can use right away and leave with a simple 10-minute at-home mobility routine to help you keep moving forward.

🎀 Shoulder Pain & Stiffness After Breast Cancer Treatment
📅 Thursday, September 17
⏰ 6:30–8:00 PM
📍 Ms. Moxie’s Moon Shop | Old Town Alexandria

Whether you’re currently navigating recovery or treatment is well behind you, this workshop is about understanding your body, restoring movement, and building confidence in what your body can do.

Space is limited—reserve your spot at msmoxiesmoonshop.com and come move with us. 💗

In 1978, Gloria Steinem asked a deceptively simple question: What if men could menstruate?

In her now-famous satirical essay, she imagined how differently the world might treat periods if they were experienced by those who held greater social power.

Period products would be free. Menstrual pain would be taken seriously. Research would be funded. And bleeding wouldn’t be something people were expected to hide or quietly manage on their own.

Nearly 50 years later, her words still feel remarkably relevant.

We are still fighting period poverty. We are still working to break the stigma and shame surrounding menstruation. We are still asking for better research, better healthcare and more equitable access to the products people need. And right here in Alexandria, menstrual products are still subject to a local tax.

Steinem helped make menstruation something we could talk about publicly—and helped us understand that the way society treats our bodies is connected to who has power.

She also rejected the idea that there is only one torch to pass from one generation to the next. Everybody gets a torch.

This week, we honor Gloria Steinem and the enormous impact of a woman who spent her life questioning systems, saying the quiet parts out loud and making space for those who came next.

And here at Ms. Moxie’s, our torch is lit.
And we’ll keep lighting more torches along the way. 🔥

What a way to celebrate Women’s Equality Day! 💜

Women’s Equality Day commemorates the certification of the 19th Amendment and the generations of women who fought for the right to vote—while reminding us that the promise of equality did not reach all women in 1920, and our work is far from finished.

A huge thank you to Mayor Alyia Gaskins, Senator Elizabeth Bennett-Parker (), Diana Maurer, Chair of the Alexandria LGBTQIA+ Task Force, and the incredible business, nonprofit and community leaders who joined us.

And special thank you to Sandy Marks for Alexandria City Council who planned the whole thing and Vermilion Restaurant & Bar for providing the delicious mocktails!

We can celebrate how far we’ve come while recognizing that we haven’t reached the finish line yet. Equality in representation, opportunity, healthcare, economic security and everyday life takes continued work from all of us.

Here’s to honoring the women who moved us forward, celebrating the progress we’ve made, and continuing to do the work—together.

Rest in power. ❤️
