Those lovable goofballs from the CENLA Vibe Tribe and Area 143 are back again and ready to bring the fun and beautiful world of electronic dance music to Vibratory Alley!

This time around, they’re bringing the heat with two drastically different nights highlighting the roots of the culture to the modern day.

On Friday, December 6 at 6 p.m., Indie’s resident DJ Dan Chilwell will kick off the festivities with an evening devoted to the deep, disco roots of the house music he heavily presents in his sets. Outside of dance circles, it’s not well known that this type of dance music was brought about when underground clubs in Chicago didn’t want disco to die. From that humble start, house music has grown into a worldwide phenomenon that has not only remained popular in underground circles but has grown into the basis of much modern pop music.

Saturday, December 7 is the big day. We’re letting the Area 143 guys take over the sound system during the day with an eclectic playlist featuring both acts that have appeared at their annual Memorial Day weekend camping festival just outside of Baton Rouge and the influences that propel their day-to-day lives. As Ray Charles famously sang, “The nighttime is the right time” and beginning at 4:30 p.m., Nacogdoches’s Blue Lotus will open the night with a sundown set sure to get bodies moving and hearts pumping. Two hours later, at 6:30 p.m., Dan Chilwell will take over the decks and provide a set of the most banging house, techno, and breakbeats around. The evening’s main event begins at around 9:30 when the two DJs both combine talents and face off in a back-to-back drum and bass battle where each DJ takes turns trying to top the previously played track. They’ve only performed this type of set twice, once at May’s Indiefete and again a few months back in Texas. Both times it brought the house down. The Area 143 crew will bring the full force of their sensory-overloading light show for the second night, which will be the most lights and lasers ever featured at River Fete.

Vibratory Alley won’t be the only game in town, and when one needs a break from the intense lights and sounds being produced, there will be any number of vendors in Indie Village, along with another stage featuring amazing rock and metal acts. The main part of the festival will also feature even more music and activities for the kids.

So, we implore you, This FREE festival is a celebration of music, community, and unapologetic self-expression. Bring your chosen family, embrace your authentic self, and get ready for a weekend overflowing with love, pride, and pure joy.
