Are you a budding gardener eager to expand your plant collection without breaking the bank? Lets propagate hydrangea cuttings from an established plant without spending a fortune.

STEP 1: Supplies
You’ll need just a few basic supplies to get started 👉 Healthy hydrangea plant, pruning shears, small pots or containers, well-draining potting mix or compost, rooting hormone, and transparent plastic bags or clear tote bin!

STEP 2: Selecting and Preparing Cuttings
Choose a softwood cutting from the hydrangea plant that is about 4 to 6 inches in length and has a few sets of leaves. Using clean pruning shears, make a clean cut just below a leaf node (the point where a leaf is attached to the stem).

STEP 3: Applying Rooting Hormone
To increase the chances of successful rooting, you can dip the cut end of the hydrangea cutting into a rooting hormone.

STEP 4: Potting the Cuttings
Fill small pots or containers with a well-draining potting mix. Create a small hole in the potting mix and insert the cut end of the hydrangea cutting. Gently firm the soil around the cutting.

STEP 5: Create a Mini Greenhouse
Cover the potted cuttings with transparent plastic bags or place them into a clear tote with lid to create a humid environment. This step helps retain moisture and encourages root development. SOOOO important!

STEP 6:
Place the potted cuttings in a bright, indirect light location + avoid direct sunlight. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. After a few weeks, gently tug on the cuttings. If you feel resistance, it means roots are forming.

🙌Step 7: Transplanting
Once your cuttings have developed strong roots (usually in a few months), it’s time to transplant them into larger pots or directly into your garden.

Congratulations, you’re well on your way to creating an abundant garden without spending a fortune.
