The crisp fall weather on this October “Meet Your Maker” Monday has us already gearing up for the holidays and today’s artist is a perfect introduction to the season! When one first meets this beloved human, you can see right away how much he cares about what he is doing and creating. As an artist, educator, parent, partner, friend and leader, the depth and intentionality of his work is why we asked him to design and create the 2026 Alfred Ornament. ❤️

Universe, please acquaint yourself with this Wellsville resident and AU educator - Trevor Bennett!💫

Trevor Bennett is an artist and educator originally from Little Rock, Arkansas. Today he supports Alfred University’s School of Art and Design as the Director of Foundations.

Trevor’s interdisciplinary approach to art means that he and his students are always changing gears, looking for new references, and important connections.

He often reminds them: “something is going to happen!”

All Alfred ornaments will be available in-store or via email/social media message. 50% of all proceeds will be benefitting the Alfred Montessori School.

It’s that time of year once more and we are so excited to announce this year’s Alfred Ornament and benefiting local organization!

The 2026 Alfred Ornament has been designed by Trevor Bennett Trevor Bennett and will be benefitting Alfred Montessori School!

In Trevor’s words:

Made of glazed porcelain and vintage ribbon the “Love Award” tree ornament is designed to celebrate those who spread love. A ring of hearts reminds us that kindness begets kindness. The ornament is made to look like a first place medal. It’s an award reserved for true athletes of companionship and camaraderie.

This holiday season, love wins!

Available in 17 different varieties of ribbon, at $30 each, 50% of all ornament sales will directly benefit the Alfred Montessori School, while supplies last.❤️

This week’s “Meet Your Maker” Monday featured artist is a lady who is well known to many of us here in the village. A multifacted musician, maker, farmer, advisor... (the list goes ON!), this lady’s talent and kindness are just some of the many reasons we are so fortunate to have her as part of the Kindred team. From reclaimed fabric bags & key fobs to her breathtaking watercolors, anyone would be lucky to bring a piece of her work home with them. 🌈

Universe, we are so thrilled to instroduce you to - Betsy Kent!💫

Betsy Kent works across watercolor, silk painting, and drawing, with a particular focus on fiber arts and sewing. She and her husband co-own Kent B**r Company and live on their family farm, where the textures, rhythms, and landscapes of rural life provide an ongoing source of inspiration for her work.

This crisp and autumnal “Meet Your Maker” Monday, we meet an artist who is relatively new to the shop. From the moment her work, it was flying off the shelves before we even could get a chance to hang it! This ebullient human is such a beam of light to be around. The joy she takes in making and sharing her work is positively contagious!🐘

Her soulful and heart warming work features hand-built pieces that remind us of the importance of being a friend, a fan, and the beauty of nature. Kindred Collective is so fortunate this artist has joined the team here and we are so thrilled to share her work with you! Universe, please meet - Cindy Smith!💫

Hi, I’m Cindy Smith an artist from the Town of Fremont, Steuben County, NY.  I live on a Christmas tree farm with my husband and poodle, Rudy. After many years employed by Steuben County in the Finance Department, retirement was looming. I wondered what I would do with my time in this new chapter of life.  I started taking  pottery classes and the bug hit. We built a small home studio and I had my answer.
With the prompting of a good friend, i tried my hand at marketing my wares and have since expanded into four venues.
Specializing in hand building clay forms. I strive for creating earthy, unique pieces that convey feelings and messages through their visual form. Alongside pottery, my first love is photography, which I feel has influenced my creativity with composition, texture and color theory.
My main goal is to create pieces that make people feel some positive emotion whether it be friendliness, kindness, acceptance, to name a few.
