Happy National Lighthouse Day!
On August 7, 1789, Congress approved an Act for the establishment and support of lighthouse, beacons, buoys and public piers. In 1989, in celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the signing of the Act and the commissioning of the first Federal lighthouse, Congress passed a resolution which designated August 7 as National Lighthouse Day.

Did you know the Algoma Visitor Center is now an official United States Lighthouse Society (USLHS ) Lighthouse Passport participating stamp location!

You can purchase your USLHS Lighthouse Passport and get it stamped with the official Algoma Pierhead Light stamp at the Algoma Visitor Center!

The USLHS Lighthouse Passport Program provides enthusiasts the opportunity to help preserve lighthouses as well as a wonderful way to keep a pictorial history of their lighthouse adventures. Passports are $17 and getting your passport stamped is free!

The Algoma Visitor Center (VC) is located at 1226 Lake St. in Algoma, WI. Current hours: Monday - Saturday 10 AM - 4 PM, Sunday 10 AM - 1 PM.
