The studio is buzzing with creativity! We’ve gone to the dark side….New Day of the Dead gourds are coming to life …Alongside them, I’m creating a collection of vintage-inspired Halloween luminaries featuring vintage black cats, grinning jack-o’-lanterns, owls, moons, witches, and a the Halloween icons that make the season feel so magical.

This is my favorite time of year—when imagination transforms these homegrown gourds into one-of-a-kind pieces of art.

The winds have shifted…

Summer is slowly packing its bags, and around here that can only mean one thing… it’s showtime.

The studio is waking up with Halloween magic. Gourds are transforming into curious creatures, glowing luminaries, and a few wonderfully odd surprises that only seem to appear this time of year.

Keep checking in as the shelves begin to fill. My favorite season is just getting started, and I can’t wait to share what glows, and grows in the studio this fall….

A celebration of flowers. Let’s embrace them and grow them and put them in vases and paintings and light them up . They are beauty queens of the natural world and should be honored !

Every garden gourd starts with a good foundation.

There are lots of ways to decorate a gourd surface, but today I begin with a strong acrylic base. It gives me the soft, but opaque vintage look I love while creating a durable finish that will stand up over time.

Today’s video is all about building that first layer—the part most people never see, but that makes all the difference.

Come back tomorrow when the real fun begins… I’ll start adding the design and hand-painted details that bring each piece to life.

Small Wonders !

All in a day’s work…..

I’ve been painting these mini birdhouses for all those little feathered friends. Originally I had hummingbirds in mind, but then I found out they don’t nest in birdhouses. 🤷‍♀️ So these are officially dedicated to all the other small families looking for a place to call home.

They’re almost finished—just waiting on the paracord and a spray.

And I’m thinking each one might come with a little tag of wisdom. Because who can’t use a few encouraging words these days?

Back from a couple days away…
Apparently my studio took my absence as permission to completely lose all adult supervision.
So before I pretend I have this all under control, I thought I’d give you a tour.
Welcome to Willow Creek Studio—where inspiration is abundant, floor space is optional, and every flat surface has been promoted to “temporary storage.”
