Accepted items include anything with a cord, home electronics and televisions, computers and monitors, small appliances, air conditioners, washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, furnaces, and lawn equipment. All accepted items, including older-model CRT televisions, are free of charge for residents to recycle during the drive.

Items not allowed include light bulbs, paint, hazardous waste, business and contractor waste, batteries, oils, fire extinguishers, propane tanks, oxygen tanks, DVDs, VHSs, CDs, or cassette tapes, transformers or ballasts, and devices containing mercury including smoke detectors.

Can lids can easily get mixed in with paper when recyclables are sorted at the material recovery facility. So how do you recycle easy-open, pull-top can lids?
➡️ Insert the lid back into the can after it has been emptied and rinsed. Give the can a squeeze to trap the separated lid inside.
➡️ Forgo the pull top and open the can with a side-cutting opener. Leave the lid attached to the can.

Exciting news for Alton, Illinois! This large area once served as Alton's Landfill, sitting unusable for any new growth or business opportunities.

Fast forward to today. We have come to an agreement with and will be installing solar panels! What an integrative way to use up unwanted space and move towards sustainability! 👏👏
