SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is accepted at the Alton Farmers' & Artisans' Market! Stop by the information booth anytime between 8am-12pm to swipe your card at our mobile machine. We will exchange any amount (in $25 increments) for Market Tokens that can be spent with participating vendors. And thanks to a LinkUp Illinois grant, we're able to DOUBLE YOUR DOLLARS! All swipes are matched dollar-for-dollar with Double Bucks, good to be exchanged for fruits and veggies.

What can you buy with your Market Tokens? Anything you can purchase at the grocery store! Eligible items include meat, eggs, honey, baked goods, plants that produce vegetables, canned and jarred goods (such as pickles, relish, preserves), cheese and, of course, fruits and vegetables! Participating vendors will display a sign or grab a map with highlighted vendors at the info booth before heading out to shop.

Didn't get enough? Stop back by the Info Booth to swipe again- the only limit to your swipes is the available balance. Out of State SNAP program? You can still swipe at our booth but we're unable to provide Double Bucks as they are limited to Illinois recipients, only.

This program keeps SNAP dollars circulating in our local farm economy and keeps locally grown/made food in the bellies of those who need it, a win-win for us all! 🥳🍎🍑🧅🥕🍞🥚🧀🍗

B-I-N-G-O! Market Bingo was its name-o! Join in the fun this Saturday, August 15th and play MARKET BINGO, hosted by our Promotions Committee! Pick up your game board at the Info Booth, while supplies last, and win fun prizes.

The Alton Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market runs every Saturday from 8am-12pm through October 17th at the corner of Landmarks and Henry in historic Downtown Alton. After you shop our 100+ farm and artisan booths, head up the pedestrian walkway to the shops on Broadway and see what treasures await you. Then grab lunch from one of the terrific establishments in Downtown. Make a day out of this weekend!

Happy National Farmer's Market Week! 🤩 To celebrate, Ajk designs made these cute coloring pages that kids can pick up for free along with a pack of crayons at the market this Saturday! Visit booth 14 between 8am-Noon, while supplies last.

Today seems like a good time to remind you that the Alton Farmers' & Artisans' Market continues, Rain or Shine! 🌧🌞 All of our Farmers and many of our artisans and other food vendors don't let a little rain stop them (and SIXTY-SEVEN DEGREES??? Perfect!)

Important information. Alton FAM vendors accept SNAP, and we offer a double bucks program through grant funding that will DOUBLE your buying power. Stop by the Info Booth at the market to exchange digital dollars for tokens that can be spent at participating vendors. Many of the items you can purchase at the grocery store exist at the market. Meat, eggs, honey, cheese, bread, fruit and veg, even plants that produce edible food are eligible.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced that Illinois residents who lost SNAP benefits will receive a one-time $400 benefit per eligible household member.

The benefit is part of the new Families Receiving Emergency Support for Hunger, or FRESH, a $70 million program enacted in Pritzker’s fiscal 2027 budget.

Our special activity at this week's market is the Barony of Shattered Crystal! They are the Saint Louis Metro-East chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a not for profit medieval recreation group. They will share their love for medieval recreation all morning, including jousting! Be sure to stop by and say hello/watch the show during your market turn.

👀 at this new Market Cocktail at FLOCK Food Truck Park & Bar Perfectly delicious 😋

This weekend’s Market Cocktail is here! We found fresh elderberries at the Alton Farmer’s Market and spent the morning making a heavenly elderberry syrup with some warm spices and honey. We added it to St. Germain (yes, we have that now!), Origin gin, and ginger beer. It’s warm AND refreshing.

Come get one while you can! We only have 2 bottles of syrup!

Let's talk Artisans.

So often in high Summer, our focus is on the fresh local produce, but MOST of our 150+ vendors every week are not Farmers - they're regional artisans and makers, who have honed their craft over many years. They carve wood, weave fiber, pour candles, shape soaps, throw pottery, and design paper goods. We have authors and artists, designers and creatives of all stripes who are writing, stamping, painting, and twining their little hearts out each week to make products you'll love. If you're looking for a gift, a treasure for your home, or a little something for yourself: we probably have a vendor for that.
