Terra Luna & Its Raining Zen A positive, peaceful, loving approach to life! Wonderful, mystical items from around the world! Two Illinois locations: Zen in Alton & Terra Luna in Greenville
(686)

We COEXIST and support all spiritual paths. Our fun, quirky and unique shop located in Historical Mineral Springs Mall is designed to enhance your spiritual side. When you have a positive approach to life and its challenges, the set backs seem smaller. Our journey isn't always an easy one, nor can it be pleasant all the time. Sometimes carrying our favorite stone, lighting a candle, or smelling the aroma of incense or essential oils triggers a more positive time. This combined with prayer or meditation is usually what we need to get or keep our spiritual side on track. Life is too short to be anything but happy! Wishing you peace, love, light, and happiness!

We stayed off social media today. It felt like a day better spent in deep thought and reflection—remembering those we lost and considering all the changes and events of the past twenty-five years.

We also tried to look for the positive, which is not always the easiest thing to find. But we believe the events of our lives work together toward the greatest possible good, placing us where we need to be when we need to be there—even when we cannot understand it at the time.

Whatever path brought you to today, be grateful for the journey. Remember what life has taught you, carry the lessons forward and never stop hoping for a better tomorrow.

Goodnight, friends.

Twenty-five years ago at this exact moment American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon.

Time does not erase grief.

It changes the way we carry it. Some days, twenty-five years feels like a lifetime. On others, it feels like no time has passed at all. Today is one of those days.

Perhaps the most meaningful way to honor this anniversary is to remember how quickly an ordinary morning can become history—and how much our words, our choices and the way we treat one another matter while we are still here. In the end, how we made others feel and what we did for one another become part of what we leave behind.

Fair winds and following seas to my brothers and sister lost in Flag Plot that morning: Eric, Jerry, Bob, Bill, Pat, Larry, Darin, Dan, Dave, Jack, Marvin, and Melissa.

And may the other 2,965 victims from that day rest in peace.

10:27 p.m. The September new moon has arrived.

The sky may be dark, but a new cycle has begun. May we trust the beginnings we cannot see yet and remain open to everything about to unfold.

We’re sharing tonight’s goodnight post a little early because we’re going to tap out sooner rather than later. Tomorrow is a rough day.

Something to think about tonight... on September 10, 2008, scientists at CERN successfully sent a beam of protons around the entire 17-mile Large Hadron Collider for the first time.

This enormous machine was built to study the smallest known pieces of existence and explore some of humanity’s oldest questions. What is everything made of? Where did it all begin? What unseen forces are still shaping the universe around us?

Science and spirituality are often treated as opposites, but both require humility in the presence of mystery. Science asks us to examine what we cannot see. Spirituality asks us to consider what we cannot always explain. Ignoring one will leave you with half an explanation. Both remind us that reality is much larger than what our senses can immediately recognize.

That feels especially meaningful today as the Moon begins a new cycle while remaining completely hidden from view.

The particles traveling beneath CERN could not be seen with the naked eye, yet they were moving. The new moon cannot be seen, yet its next cycle has already begun. Much of what shapes our lives works the same way. Healing often begins before we feel better. Change begins before anyone notices. A new direction begins with a thought, a decision or a quiet knowing long before there is evidence that anything has changed.

Perhaps darkness is not an empty place after all. Perhaps it is where possibility gathers before revealing itself.

Darkness does not mean nothing is happening. Sometimes it means something new has already begun—and we are being asked to trust it before we can see it.

Goodnight, everyone.

Tonight at 10:27 p.m., the September new moon arrives over Southern Illinois.

The new moon occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, leaving the side facing us in darkness. It marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle—a quiet point between what has ended and what has not yet taken shape.

This particular new moon arrives as summer begins giving way to autumn. We are approaching a season of changing colors, longer nights and gathering what has grown before deciding what we will carry forward. That makes this a meaningful time to consider what has run its course, what deserves another chance and what is ready to begin.

New beginnings rarely arrive fully formed. Sometimes they begin as a decision, a boundary, a conversation or the simple realization that life can no longer remain exactly as it has been.

Tonight, consider what may be unfolding in front of you. You do not need every answer or the entire path illuminated. The new moon reminds us that something can already be beginning—even when we cannot see it yet.

Practical Magic is coming to downtown Greenville, and we are definitely getting in on this one.

To celebrate the premiere of Practical Magic 2, we’ve teamed up with the Globe Theater and businesses around the square for a “Midnight Margaritas” downtown crawl on Saturday, September 12.

Pick up a passport at The Curator’s Collective, then visit each participating business between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. Every location will have its own specials and magical surprises waiting for you.

At Terra Luna, we’ll offer a discount on all of our “kitchen witch” items, including essential oils, herbs, mortars and pestles, and tea. Spend $10 in the shop that evening, and we’ll also give you complimentary incense.

We’ll also have pre-packaged tarot and angel oracle readings available for only $10 each on Saturday night. Every reading was done by Dave, every one is unique, and each includes a guided meditation he wrote specifically to accompany that reading.

Once you’ve completed your passport, head back to the Globe Theater for the final drawings and the showing of Practical Magic 2 at 9:45 p.m.

Come explore the square, visit the participating businesses and make an evening of it. This should be a lot of fun.

This remarkable specimen from Peru is manganese-bearing calcite arranged in what geologists and mineral collectors call a calcite rosette—a flower-like aggregate created when flattened crystals grow outward and overlap one another. It should not be confused with a desert rose, which is usually gypsum or barite. And the rosettes grew on both sides!

The soft pink rosettes grew across a bed of gray dogtooth calcite, named for its small, sharply pointed crystals. Trace manganese inside the pink calcite gives it its rosy color and causes it to glow intensely under black light.

Metaphysically, pink calcite is associated with compassion, emotional healing, forgiveness and releasing old pain. Gray calcite is connected with calm, stability and clear thinking. Together, they represent a gentler kind of strength: remaining grounded while allowing the heart to heal, open and grow.

Sometimes changing the light reveals something beautiful that was there all along.

The new moon is almost here, and this obsidian moon-phase pendant feels made for welcoming the dark moon.

Polished black obsidian is carved with the lunar cycle and finished in gold, creating a beautiful contrast against the stone’s glassy surface. Obsidian is volcanic glass, formed when molten lava cools so quickly that crystals do not have time to develop.

Metaphysically, obsidian is associated with protection, grounding, truth, and releasing what no longer serves us. Paired with the moon phases, it becomes a reminder that darkness is not an ending. Sometimes it is the quiet beginning of whatever comes next.

Today is a pretty big day at Terra Luna. We just completed a massive tea restock, including a couple of new seasonal flavors that are absolutely worth talking about.

Cardamom Cinnamon is warm, spicy and completely different from an ordinary cup of tea. Cinnamon, ginger and cardamom are blended with chicory, black pepper, clove, star anise and even carob. It is bold, fragrant and tastes so good.

Then there is Ginger Peach Chocolate Truffle Dessert Tea—and this one is out of this world. It is a luxurious blend of cocoa, roasted maté and rooibos with cinnamon, chicory, blackberry leaves, ginger and bourbon vanilla. Peach, chocolate and warm spice may sound like an unusual combination, but it works beautifully.

Both seasonal flavors, along with so many returning favorites, are available at Terra Luna right now.
