This morning was a beautiful 55 degrees... the shadows have stretched just a tiny bit longer...the Elders are giving fruits... the Aronia leaves have just the slightest tinge of blush...and the Goldenrods are beginning to burst into bloom 🥰

I hope you don't see this.

I've been very quiet online lately.

It's a move that I'm aware could kill my business- a business that's just getting started.
But the endless pressure to be online to put out content is not for me...

Living life and noticing the world around me, and being present for it, is what enabled me to start my business in the first place.
And it's how I'll continue to operate.

My whole business is centered on presence, and tea is a tool to facilitate more of it on our lives. The irony of having to use social media to promote presence isn't lost on me.

But I want you to LIVE life.
I want you to put the phone down and spend time with your family and friends.
I want you to make memories and rely on your own brain to capture them.
I want you to spend time in nature.
I want you to chase sunsets, not validation.
I want you to make a cup of tea and hug a tree.
I want you to have agency.

So this is just a small check in to say I'm still here and absolutely grateful for every order, but it's my hope that you don't even see this ♥️

Your new favorite Summer tea blends just dropped!

After months of work on these two, I'm thrilled to release Hummingbird and Crimson Glow ✨

One celebrates the celebration of Summer at its peak, the other honors the rest that follows.

Hummingbird captures the bright energy of mid summer...flowers in bloom, pollinators hard at work, the first fruits of the season ripening in the sun... a refreshing blend of delicate white tea, hand crafted, candied, Japanese amanatsu, blueberries, hibiscus and lemongrass.

Delicious hot but formulated especially for drinking cold, Hummingbird makes for a refreshing drink under the summer sun, equally suited for working in the garden, or a day spent lounging poolside with friends.

Crimson Glow honors the rest after the celebration... Inspired by the folklore of Midsummers Eve and lingering evening light, it promotes deep rest and relaxation with botanicals such as Lemon Balm, Nettle and Catnip, one of my favorite botanicals for dreaming. With a citrus berry profile it steeps into a beautiful ruby-red infusion, perfect for your evening wind down routine.

Together they tell the story of a season at its peak and the gentle turn that follows.

Both available now ✨ Hummingbird is a Limited Time Release

(A big thank you to Mike Shoup of South Amana, Iowa for allowing me to use his beautiful photo of the Hummingbird!)

International Tea Day

Tea is more than a beverage. Across cultures and generations, tea has served as a symbol of hospitality, community, reflection, and connection.

In 2022, UNESCO recognized traditional tea culture as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, honoring the knowledge, practices, and rituals that have been passed down through generations.

It is quite literally, a gift to all of humanity.

Today, in a world that often moves too quickly, a simple cup of tea offers something increasingly valuable: a reason to pause and take a moment for ourselves.

Whether enjoyed alone or shared with others, tea invites us to slow down, be present, and reconnect with ourselves and our communities.

Beyond its cultural significance, tea has also been studied for its connection to longevity, and its rich array of naturally occurring compounds, including polyphenols and antioxidants that have long contributed to its place in wellness traditions around the world.

This International Tea Day, take a moment to steep a cup, slow your pace, and appreciate the centuries of wisdom contained in a single leaf.

🍃☕ Happy International Tea Day

This morning I booked 2 massages.
One for Friday and one for next month.
My back has been in knots this week and none of my usual methods are taking care of it.

Before 2020 I got massages regularly. Then life as we know it changed of course, and that form of self care never made it back into my routine.

I realized recently that the shift that occurred during the pandemic, a subsequent move, and constant construction on a mid century home, didn't just disrupt life temporarily. It took me from the peace and stability in which I was finally thriving and plunged me back into chaos and stress.

Add to that grief from the loss of family bonds and connections, and a sudden catapult into late stage perimenopause and suddenly I just didn't recognize my life anymore.

The shift didn't just take me out of my routine, it was fundamentally changing the way I was experiencing life. In the process I forgot so much of what mattered to me, and the past couple of years has been a gradual return to remembering.

So today is a day for lots of tea and lots of remembering via journaling.

Have you taken the time to assess how 2020 may have changed your life? And how those changes may STILL be lingering in ways for you that aren't obvious?

Are there ways you have forgotten yourself, because you were thrust into survival mode and your nervous system starting making changes without your awareness?

I realize that not everyone was impacted in this way, and for some, that time motivated them to unlock a new level of thriving. And that is beautiful. But if it set you back, like it did me, I hope you are on a process of remembering that you deserve so much more than survival.
You are worthy of a life in which you THRIVE 🩷

Peony Symbolism...

The peony has long been associated with beauty, prosperity, and deep emotions. Known as the “king of flowers” in parts of East Asia, it symbolizes honor, abundance, romance, thriving.

Its lush layered petals have made it a symbol of:
Love, Feminine grace & beauty, Good fortune & prosperity, Compassion & emotional healing

In Chinese tradition, peonies are connected to wealth, nobility, and honor.
In Japanese symbolism, they often represent bravery balanced with elegance.
In Victorian flower language, peonies symbolized heartfelt apology.

Pink peonies in particular symbolize romance.

My wedding flowers were all pink peonies, and I just love the way they smell 🩷

It makes me so happy when they begin to bloom. For me, that's when I know Summer has arrived☀️
