There's a special relief you feel when, after a long day, you finally lie down in bed and exhale. Your body begins to relax, and less strain on your spine and joints allows tired muscles to ease.
Jesus Christ gives that kind of relief: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
But sometimes we imagine His help only kicks in when we've hit our limit—like He's there for the part that pushed us past what we could handle on our own, and the rest is on us. In reality, He carries all of it.
Like lying down at the end of a long day, we can practice letting go of the need to hold everything up. We can let Him sustain us.
We can take a deep breath.
