Our summer collection this year includes three new scents made in part with my friends as the inspiration. Last week we highlighted the first one — Loons & Lakes made by Jayden. Today we’re highlighting the second, a soap called Wandering Dunes by Chase.

Last fall, Chase came up with the scent notes for our bestselling fall candle ‘Colorful Colorado’, so this summer he wanted to try his hand at making another custom scent blend.

He came to the workshop, spent an hour mixing and matching scents, until he came up with the perfect combination of jasmine, sandalwood, and bergamot. The vibe is Great Sand Dunes National Park, “out west”, the song ‘A Horse With No Name’ by America, and summertime.

Even more fun, he stayed afterwards and was apart of actually making the first batch of soaps. I taught him the basics of soapmaking, he told me what layers of colors he envisioned (it is supposed to look like sand dunes with the sunset), and we took turns mixing and pouring.

All of these scents will be available in our sustainable & non-toxic soap, lotion, and candle formulas a week from today on our website June 15th, and every week at the Ames Farmers Market starting June 20th! 🌈🌞🌻

Running Mystic Eco, coming up with new seasonal products is one of the most fun parts of my job. What’s even more fun, though, is getting inspired by my friends and working with them to make fun, new seasonal products that are special to them. This summer collection includes three new scents made in part with my friends, and this is the first new scent highlight — Loons & Lakes made by Jayden.

Loons & Lakes is a blend of coconut water, sea salt, key lime, lotus, rose, and sage. Here’s what Jayden has to say about it:

“Having grown up in and being a Minnesotan, the Loons & Lakes Mystic scent reminds me of home and what sparked my curiosity for wildlife and nature. The scent reminds me of a summer sunrise paddle with the echo of loon calls rippling across the surface with pine trees swaying in the breeze. As a Minnesotan, what’s not to love about loons and lakes! You’ll love this scent too.”

Something new and fun is coming to our shop this summer!✨ We’ve been asked SO MANY times to carry car air fresheners and we’ve finally decided to start.

These are a carcinogen-free and hormone-friendly alternative to mainstream, disposable car fresheners that oftentimes contain phthalates, benzene, formaldehyde, and Prop 65 warnings. 😬 Ours are handmade here in Ames with a mild, low-toxicity solvent and phthalate-free fragrances, well within VOC compliance limits! I’ve chosen four scents to start that are my favorites from our upcoming summer collection (more on the inspo for these later).

These four scents for summer will be available with our Summer Collection dropping online on June 15th, buuut if you want a head start, I will have them available early exclusively at the Ames Main Street Farmers' Market starting this Saturday, May 30th. 😉

Woah! The first 3 weeks of the Ames Farmers Market have absolutely blown us away. It’s our first year doing AFM and we were definitely not prepared for how amazing of a market it is. We are sold out of almost everything!

We are able to have more shampoo bars, face wash, face masks, face creams, lotions, and candles made and ready before next week no problem — the hard part to keep up with is bar soaps because they require 4 weeks to cure before they can be sold. Believe me though, the curing racks are STACKED right now and more soaps will become available within the next 2 weeks! Please remember I’m just one person handcrafting everything behind the scenes and I am working as fast as one person can 🌸
