Hey kids.
It's been a goal of mine to be out of the selling game by the end of this year at the latest. Business has been slowing down for a long time now, and quite frankly, I'm just tired.
Yesterday, Rob, Brian, and I received an offer for the whole booth and decided as a group to accept and to shut down. It was the cleanest out, and came at the right time.
I want to say how thankful I am to those who have regularly visited us over the years.
I've been ready to be done for a little while now. Geek Gear became a heavy lift for my mentally, emotionally, and financially (it was never a profitable venture for me despite what some may think). But I truly appreciate everyone who would visit us each week just to stop in and say hello. I can't express how much that means to me, especially those times that I was there solo and people would stop by to chat and keep me company.
I also wanted to specifically thank Brian Bender for stepping up and running the show on Wednesdays when Rob and I were unable to be there. I know those were some long, slow, boring days (some Saturdays were too lol). Without his help, I don't think we ever would have expanded to three booths.
This wasn't an easy decision for any of us. I know it's a dream of Rob's to have his own store someday, and I know how passionate Brian is when it comes to collecting and helping others add to their collections. Business has been slowing for a while now, but aside from that I for one just don't have the same passion for this as I used to. I've learned the hard way that monetizing something you love is a dangerous game and has to be navigated very carefully.
I truly appreciate those of you who supported us over the years.
Thank You 🖤
Sincerely, Nate.
