Hey, friends! Boy, do we have some news for you!
You might have noticed PNP was closed yesterday. Well that surely wasn’t because we were taking the day off, instead we were getting things ready for the new owners! 🎉🎉
You read that right. Yesterday, Kathie closed on the sale of the Pad N Pencil.
The PNP has been in the Forwood family since 1974. Ed and Thelma purchased Pad N Pencil and moved Ed’s H & R Block tax office into the loft. Kathie worked side by side with her parents until she purchased the business from them in the mid-90s. Over the course of 45 years the business has changed to include many services and a range of different retail items. As a business owner, Kathie endured many setbacks – including the flood in 2015 that would’ve led many businesses to close, but for Kathie it led to a beautiful remodel of the entire store, both inside and out. Kathie has dedicated endless hours to making sure that she met all customers needs and that she kept things ever changing for the better at the store. As a business owner she never turned down an opportunity to help in the community or to invest in Anaconda. A quick note as I write this (Morgan, here! 👋), the other thing that Kathie has been is somehow the perfect and present Mom and Grandma while seemingly still managing to do it all for the PNP. Kathie grew up in the store, she raised kids in the store, and now – hopefully she’ll get a chance to relax and enjoy time with family – which is long overdue and well deserved, outside of the store.
Kathie won’t be retiring, but she hasn’t decided what her next steps will be just yet. For the next few weeks however, she’s agreed to stay on at the store to help the PNP’s new owners as they get the hang of the business and get the opportunity to meet all of you!
On behalf of our entire family, I can confidently say we are forever grateful to the community of Anaconda for the years of support and shopping at PNP. It’s true when they say that shopping local pays for dance lessons or football jerseys or puts food on the table because we were that family – thanks to you and thanks to Kathie’s success in her business! We have great hope for the new owners and wish them nothing but the best! We hope you continue to shop at Pad N Pencil as we know you’ll continue to be offered the best in office, gifts, candles, and more.
Stop in and give Kath a congratulations over the next few weeks if you can!
Mom – we are SO proud of you! Thank you for always taking care of us; thank you for encouraging us to always chase our dreams; thanks for all of your years of dedication to the store and for being the role model any kid would be lucky to have. The memories made at the store with you, with Gram and Gramp, and with customers, many of whom have become friends, we will have forever! Now go enjoy some looong overdue down time!! We love you!
Had to do a little reminiscing, so here's some photos from over the years. ❤
